Just dont bother with HD, go to voobly for multiplayer.
The HD community is just dead. On the rare occasion you can get a game without it being a smurf just trolling you and ruining your night, your ally will just rage quit even though you are actually ahead as a team. Honestly just go to Voobly and save yourself hours of being trolled be arguably the most toxic mulitplayer lobby I have ever played on.

This is after enduring 182 hours of multiplayer here FYI. And before you say get gud, its called a disability, some of us can only play at a certain level.

Voobly is a great option but as it's a mixed community (by that I mean compatibility patch, original CD and of course pirates), you're not going to find as many expansions games.

Also, there's plenty of toxicity on Voobly and generally the people there are way too concerned about ELO so you end up not being able to start games.

Finally, 182 hours is absolutely nothing and if you don't focus on improving (dunno what you mean by disability tbh), you'll end up being at most in the low 1600s. The higher the ELO the less smurfing there is and the less general ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

So yeah, get gud.

The Problem is not the HD community, its the terrible (bare bones and buggy) multiplayer setup HD comes with.

We need the HD community to play on voobly so there are more expansion players playing there!
There are plenty of noob matches for new players, and they tend to be pretty friendly.

Higher skilled matches tend to have more toxic players but that is pretty standard in any competitive game.

What I mean is my disability that requires medication that directly inhibts my fine motor skill at reach (bascially the one skill required for mouse control) and my hand eye response time. Before the medication I was 1700, now im 1548, which would be fine if I wasnt constantly against troll accounts.

For whichever reason HD doesnt suit you personally, I dont see any reason for you to force your toxic opinions on others. Just go to voobly and problem solved. BTW HD is much more beginner friendly than voobly.

How did I force my opinion on you? I stated my opinion in a public forum, I am not forcing you to adopt it, you knew from the title what my opinion was. I am highlighting that as someone with a disability players in this community through the use of smurf accounts exploit my disability through missrepresentation of thier skill level. Voobly has a begineer lobby, and even smurf accounts get ranked similar to the main account, if you are new/low skill for whatever reason, voobly is a better place than the HD multiplayer.

It’s not about HD vs Voobly.

Aoe2 HD is a great addition, it brought many old players back and brought many new players, the expansion content is awesome, they are even doing balance changes which is awesome. I’m not really a single player caimpaing guy but I’ve read the new campaigns are pretty good too.

The multiplayer setup is just very poor, and it creates frustration when trying to find good games. Sometimes you will try all night and not get one good match in.

Voobly is just a platform that offers a much more stable multiplayer experience with a lot of multiplayer resources, and we can play dlc civs and balance changes there too.

Everyone should at least check it out if they enjoy multiplayer.
mho they could fix smurfing by displaying the players highest ELO in game and their actual ELO in the steam account. I've been close to 1700 before and dumped ELO because the 163x + gameplay experience was horrible. People were quitting after a tower was built on their TC. That's how I got to 1680ish so easily, it was like 3 or 4 games in a row where people quit feudal or early castle.

At least noobs want to play the game.
