Game Like The Nintendo DS Version

Ever since I have played the Nintendo DS version (AOE: Age of Kings) I’ve been looking for a game that gave me as much enjoyment as that turn based masterpiece. I like RTS but I find that having to micromanage everything in real time a hassle sometimes and prefer strategic combat where you move your units and build during your turn. Cool close up battle scenes are also something I liked. Could I get some suggestions for some games that are similar to it on any platform?

There's the Civilization franchise which might offer what you want. Also Endless Legend if you prefer fantasy setting.

The DS version of Aoe2 is very similar to the Advance Wars series, so you might want to check that out. There's also a recent game called Wargroove which is similar to it and looks really good.
