How to rotate gates?

exist a mod in the workshop that let me rotate gate with a key?

There isn't a way to do that in HD and I highly doubt it will ever be added in HD. The only reason why 1.0c with UserPatch has it because the team behind UserPatch are Hex Editing Wizards.

Best way I've found is to make quick little circles with the mouse until it snaps to the position you want.

On the subject of gates...
If you lay down a row of un-built stone walls and then put a gate on a portion of that wall..do you lose those stone tiles for the wall? as in does it cost more than putting a gate down first then making the walls from the ends?

Yes, you indeed lose the resources for the wall if you place a gate over them.

or place the walls, delete the foundation of the space you need for the gate, then place the gate
