New Building: Forester?

I was thinking if a forester could be added to the game to afforest the map. I personally don't like that gets more and more plain the longer the game goes. This could offset the balance ofcourse, but it could be an optional building outside of ranked mode.

It sounds like a building that gathers wood so you dont cut any more trees

Trees and bushes should just regrow.. never understood why they didn't.
Also never understood why there are no mushrooms or nuts to forage. or why we can't eat wolves and other predators when we kill them. When a vil kills a predator they are considered a hunter, they should at least be worth 25 food.

Regrowing resources was definitely planned for Age of Kings. It'd be a totally different game, though. What I don't know is why team games have "infinite" gold and single player doesn't.

Technically relics are the only infinite gold.

since the HD version is just a remake of a 1999 Game I doubt implementing new buildings or game mechanics would make the merest sense.

yes, but the settlers 4 desyncs even worse than aoe2

I can see the appeal, but that being said I'd imagine the game would be over by the time a Forester would even be helpful. Not to mention you've got the Market and/or Feitoria for any emergency Wood needs. I liked the Forester in Settlers 2 but that series has both different gameplay and undergone many gameplay changes since then.
