This resulted in fully geared players carrying an extra backpack waiting at all the best loot spots and clearing them up immediately when the server restarted, which made it impossible to get any good loot, and i thought maybe the devs had implemented this to combat loot cycling across all servers and if that was the case i would have never played again.
The reason i asked this is because my favourite server has been DayOne ever since it appeared because it has no bases, traders or safezones, and this creates the best possible DayZ experience in my opinion because the map flow and unpredictability is top notch in this regard. But me and a friend played on said server last night for about 6 hours and we did not find a single half decent weapon, clothing, ammo, armour or loot at any of the military areas. Just a badly damaged AUR was the only thing we found.
I don't loot cycle and am hoping that we just got unlucky with the map flow and every time we were just behind people that have looted the areas minutes before we arrived and loot just did not have enough time to respawn, which is ok as this happens sometimes.
The other option would have been to go through all patches in the past 6 months or so and see if i could find info on, but who would do that if it just easier to ask on here.
I do remember a couple of years ago that the devs decided they would increase the spawn timers to 48 hours and this annoyed absolutely everyone and they changed it back after a couple of days. So, it would not have been a stretch to think this was across all servers.
I am aware of this. I haven't played for about 6 months until the other day, but i am by no means new to the game, not by a long shot. I have been playing sine 0.62, ans i know how the devs like to change things all the time.
I'm just explaining why the person in chat might have been under the impression server reset ='s loot reset.
But yeah super fair devs will make a change then years later reset it quite a bit (hello crossbow).
