It is quite complex to get many mods and to run properly together.
Don't be suprised if it ends up being way harder than you thought.
I searched it up and have everything ready except the mods cause I don't own the game yet, so thanks for the heads up on that. Also, even if errors happen, I know I can deal with it as I have in the past before. My main question is if solo dayz is fun. The only reason I added that is so people wouldn't tell me you'd have to set up a server and that it's difficult. Thanks for the heads up though :)
The AI in this game is amazing for what it's worth, considering how the game is structured, but it's far way from being completed / done, other games like Escape From Tarkov SP have a better AI for example, and could actually be considered more fun that playing and killing bots players on DayZ.
Of course it's a matter of preferences and play style, but I just come back to playing PVP servers and hardcore survival, which is the base of the fun that Dayz gives me and other people at least, in my opinion.
I play this game mostly for the interactions and survival, not knowing where the next person, player, danger could be!! (traps, group of bandits, fires in the woods)
I can't tell you how many times I had PVP fights in community servers, got taken hostage, and when the situation allowed or forced us too, it brought to the best team ups and come backs against other bandits.
All of this with real players, as I said, it's a matter of taste!!!
So to each their pick! :)
So, yes, solo is not hard really and if you enjoy single player games you will
probably like playing on your own server.
Just remember there are a LOT of public servers, both official and community
that have lot's to offer. I Highly recommend you try both official and community
at some stage,
As stated before, the AI isn't too great. They definitely are terminator's, but are unable to account for movement/bullet drop so oftentimes when they are hundreds of yards away over a hill they will use every single bullet they have trying to shoot you through four walls then just kind of run around confused near you. And I pity the fool that turns a corner on one of them, this is when their aimbot/terminator reflex's shine.
But this game can definitely be fun single-player. Compare it to The Long Dark in that respect.
You can make them not terminator like. You can change where they spawn, what gear they have. Set waypoints for them. The list of options for them is quite big.
As the op is planning on running the server all those options are available to be set to op's liking.
It can take time to set it all up properly but once done. It is actually alot of fun. There is also an add on. Dolphins dynamic ai I believe. That is also good.
