Alt accounts in DayZ.

I just realized you could buy the game on another account and use that account to have a second character on the same server. You could use that alt account to explore areas without risk of losing your main character, or even bring things to your main character.

Does anyone do this? Lol.

Yes, you can and some players use alts to store stuff, gain tactical advantage and so on. The use of alts can be forbidden on some community servers, tho.

I have 3 accounts, I use them mainly for saving one of my characters if they have a fatal lag spike crash. I will log in one of my other guys to jump in the car and go save his gear, just like a mate would do (if I had any) so it can be useful to save gear.

Some guys say it's cheating but it really depends on how you use it, like I said if you were playing with friends they would hopefully do the same as one of your alt characters.

Many stricter servers (like DayOne) let you do it AFAIK. It's a no-brainer if you like to save loot, because unlike built bases or hidden stashes, hoarding loot on alts actually works well.

Having said that, the final redpill of DayZ is that hoarding/saving loot is a waste of time because it's extremely fast and easy to get geared anyways.

I’m happy to see its excluded from game sharing! It's a huge problem on Xbox where you can have 6 accounts play for free using one accounts Live and game purchase. It’s soo plagued to the point these people RECORD THEMSELVES combat logging onto an alt where their main has been killed and getting revenge! Kill a squad at a base? Expect double to spawn in any moment 😅

A new system has been placed where if the game detects an account switch it adds 5mins to the countdown timer, 15mins if you switch again.. then 30mins after that to stop this happening.. It still happens (they must know how long to wait to only get the 5mins).

I’ve not ran into this problem on PC so assume folks aren't using alts in the same way.. hoarding gear?! Meeeeh.. I personally get bored max geared/need for nothing, and when I can't find anyone to kill (as I refuse to push the coast) I’ve quite often killed myself to start again!

Yes most people have done this since the dayz mod

Who said anyone paid full price? I don't see any evidence of people saying they paid full price? Also you seem to know exactly how people meet there demise in game and know that it was incompetence on their part. I hope I'm never on trial of anything where you're Jury foreman, but then your ignorance is displayed by your profile name.
