Every sign ive looked at has been correct, like i said when i was lost for 3hours one sign helped me find out where i was and i then used my compas to go the direction i needed to.
on the sign its just gobbldy ♥♥♥♥, and it seems rather dangerous to be switching out to look at a russian converter to figure out where i am, and i dont really want to have to learn a new alphabet to play a video game that is more or less in english anyways, thats more effort than the game is worth in my opinion

Not only will it allow you to read the signs in the game, it's also one of the first steps to learning a new language whether it be Russian, Bulgarian, or any other language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet.
I think the spelling is off a little bit, I look at the sign in the game and then back to the google dayz map and back in forth a few times and finally I go ahh here I am.
To another point I guess you could argue we all have to deal with it which makes if fair, but it certainly doesn't make it funner. maybe if you know russian I think you will be a little bit happier with it.
Tell me who has found all 4 pieces of the map in the game and actually used it, no one likely as you don't live that long. Just make it the whole map when you find it, not a 1/4th of it. It's pretty much useless as everyone just uses google so make the map actaully something we can use in the game. But I understand rocket is trying to make you search for stuff but the map is pretty much useless in the game the way it stands now.
I never played until Standalone. It has taking me a good 7 days to feel pretty comfortable with my spawn locations. I do not want english in game. It's called immersion. Must every game hold our damn hands?
2. Pay attention to whats around you, are you near the sea? is the sun rising or setting (rises in the West, sets in the East) is ther large buildings near by, or just houses.
3. Run to one end or the other of the nearest town or city and find a white or blue road sign (rectangular) blue being more usefull as you can triangulate your position based on other cities, remember its easy to find names by thier length and the last few characters of the city name.
3.5. If you find a blue road sign you are going to be at a crossroad of some kind meaning you can triangulate then find the specific crossroad that blue sign is at.
4. Pay attention to where you go from there.
I just got this game a few days ago and can navigate perfectly fine using this method, I have no previous experience with DayZ
Problem solved :)
Hope this helps your lost people.
That's brilliant!
(I also accidently reported this post, sorry mods). :-D
