FIX FOR ME THAT WORKED!!!!!!
Blocked loading of file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\version.dll'

when this error happens you get the error message ("unable to locate a running instance of steam")

i use the DZSA launcher after installing a lot of mods and updating the game something happening and it broke, big sad i went through all the usual fixes but nothing worked so i did the next best thing (I read the error code) turns out all you have to do is as follows:

1) Close steam fully
2) go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
3) move the version.dll out of the steam folder (do not delete in-case it does not work)
4) open steam
5) Opem Dayz first just in steam not in DZSA
6) If it starts try in DZSA
7) You are welcome :D.

honestly felt a Dumb after the 2 hours of wondering why it was not working.

What worked for me is right clicking steam and running as administrator

When you stop playing dayz for 4 months only to come back to the same issue so you search the forums and find help from yourself from 4 months ago. Gg me.

The only thing that helped was to completely reinstall steam & dayz.
I've tested so many steps but nothing worked like the administrator permissions but only the complete reinstall worked for me!

If you have any compatibility settings set for steam left click on steam shortcut from desktop then right click press properties then compatibility tab and make sure nothing is checked and press ok that should help fix the unable to find a running instance of steam issue
