Using communication apps is not cheating.
Agree
1) The tears from people would flood the map, you will never stop them communicating. Also they could use steam in game to type to each other to also be telepathic, granted the benefits such as being able to communicate during a contact is taken away, but by the time you are ready for big contacts that TS is handy on, you are already in full military gear and its not outrageous to imagine you would have found radios to communicate.
2) You cant block 3rd party voice chat from within a game (which you already addressed)
3) Ive already thought of a way around your plan, i will simply turn my mic sensitivity down in dayz and up in TS and that way ill still be silent in game, yet speaking on voice comms.
4) Another route around, is to use two media devices. Many people these days have multiple media devices, I for one could easily hook my laptop up to skype/ts and play on my PC thus gaining an advantage on everyone.
Of course you are completely right, and i agree wtih you it does take away from the game, but i genuinely dont think there is a way to fairly implement it. Unfortunately a loophole would be found and its probably fairer to leave the field open so that everyone can "cheat" using a voice comms with their group.
You could still use your skype/vent/whatever, but everything you say would also be heard by those around you as well, much like real life.
Yes, people can get on the phone and try to make conference calls on their phones but I'd guess majority wouldn't bother with it so it'd cut off a huge portion of the Skype population.
There are just too many tec issues to prevent it though.
Your ‘always on’ mic idea is interesting, but I’m not sure I would like other people in game hearing my girlfriend asking me “Are you playing that stupid rolling in the grass simulator again!?” over direct chat.
Those of you who think TS is not cheating are kidding yourself….By definition, if it’s not in the game its cheating, same goes for having a browser window open with a Map and all the other little tricks.
