If you register a group you can put markers of various types, and you can share it with other players who are part of the same group (nik and password). For each different server, you can open a different group as you will have different needs. And as a map it is definitely better.
Can I ask, out of curiosity, which points of interest are not on izurvive?
Among other things, on izurvive, you can highlight or delete the various types of points of interest... and you can see a map with the altitude lines or one with the woods and streams highlighted (it is not perfect, the paths are too marked that look like streets, but nothing is perfect)
You can also switch maps (you have several available) and you can also highlight the various zones "Tier1", "Tier2", "Tier3" and "Tier4".
In addition to obtaining the positioning numbers on the map and finding a point by entering the numbers in the search bar.
Definitely a very useful service.
In my opinion, it only lacks the ability to "download" it offline to use it without a connection or if tomorrow it should stop the service. I got so used to using it (I always have 2 PCs and monitors in game: DayZ on the gaming PC and izurvive on the other PC and full screen monitor :-D) that if it interrupted the service I would have considerable difficulty playing as always... it would be like having a "lame" DayZ... LOL
One PoI is just SE of Radunin. There is a shape of trees that looks a bit like a capital L. One of the paths (the path is shown on the map) leads through the outcrop of trees, and then heads south right by where the corner of the L is. There is a broken down truck there, as you pass from Radunin heading east, into the field where wolves are. I was glad the truck was there, because wolves came after me, and I could stand on top of it.
I am playing on a community server, which says its vanilla Livonia.. but, perhaps they've added some flair?
I took a look at your map service. They seem to me, roughly, very similar, if not the same (I don't know to put markers, though) ... what I don't like is the graphics ... I don't like that of "dayz.xam.nu", too much small and lively in colors ... I have a hard time understanding at a glance.
On izurvive it is a little more "understandable and relaxing", you can also increase or decrease the size of the tokens on the map, and it has more zoom. I also find it graphically better.
Some time ago I too used "dayz.xam.nu" when I needed to know where the boats were on the coast, which "izurvive" did not have, but has made great strides in recent months, so I asked what you were finding in "dayz.xam.nu", which in "izurvive" is not there. Maybe try it for a while, to get to know it better, then I'm curious to know how did you find yourself and what differences you found.
;-)
I think my plan will be to use izurvive mainly, but to check the other map occasionally, as I explore new areas.
What I meant is to be able to have the whole izurvive map downloaded offline so that I can be sure that, if one day it were to stop the service, I could use it again.
But if your interest is to be able to fly and observe the map from above, you could try (if you don't already know it) the Arkensor MOD.
It gives you the ability to have a small "virtual server" (without persistence) with a simple (reduced functionality) administration tool.
The MOD can be found here:
https://github.com/Arkensor/DayZCommunityOfflineMode
Just follow the instructions and you will be able to see Chernarus (but I also believe Livonia) from above, change the weather, teleport yourself, generate all kinds of objects and try out vehicles, weapons, crafting and more. A great "testing ground" for the game, if you don't feel like setting up a "real" server and setting up various administration tools.
NOTE:
It has a flaw still present. When you generate an object, for someone, you find it "Damaged" even if you have set the "object quality" @ 100. Simple solution: set the quality to 1000.
If you need more, give a whistle ;-)
