SKS or sporter .22

never used ether of them which is better for me as scopes are a waste of time all they do is make me more visable, i gusess the SKS has more power but i only have 20 rounds but i have 2 mags and 100 rounds of .22 ammo and im tripping over Sporter .22s in svetlojarsk. aslo which is more duriable as im planning to stay out of towns once ive got better clothing and gear like water proof stuff, also dose the dry bag stop things from becoming wet like shoes.

Yes dry bag keeps things dry.

I would go with the SKS, much more power...the .22 Sporter is easy to use , but its got no power apart from a 1 shot to the head kills a Z. God knows how many it takes to kill a man ....a lot

ok good to know ill hold on to the SKS for now then migh give the .22 ammo to a bambi.

You can also find scopes and stripper clips for the sks, but its a good 10 shooter for a long while.

The dry bag is great and looks the part , but in 1st person it stops you seeing behind...i always go hunter pack in that mode.

SKS by far is the better choice. it doesnt matter if you have 100s of ammo to a single piece of weapon, or 20 in a good gun.

When i carry a mosin i only carry around 20 or so bullets to it. i dont even hoard the ammo since most likely, you die before you can use all of them.

So i carry only what i need, Since one mosin with 20 ammo = twenty kills.

The .22 is very quiet and has very little recoil, plus .22 ammo is very easy to find. As long as you've got a mag the .22 is quite a good weapon, especially if your accuracy is questionable, granted it's stopping power is poor but you can spam it and often they don't even know where it's comming from.

the SKS is very loud, but does hit hard.

.22 Pro's: Common, quiet, hardly any kick, ammo is common. .22 Con's: Less desireable stopping power, low zeroing range, no attachments, un-paintable, requires magazine. SKS Pro's: Common(ish), excellent stopping power, attachments(Scope, bayonet), ammo is fairly common, 100m zeroing range, dosent need mag. SKS Con's: Loud, fair amount of kick.

.22 doesnt get enough love. One shot kills if you hit someone in the head, which is easy to do with the low recoil and accuracy it provides.

However, if you have an SKS just carry the .22 for back up. SKS out matches pretty much every weapon in the game in my opinion.

Ita not the weapon but the person behind the weapon that makes the diff, with a 30rd clip and a .22 your good to go.

I couldnt agree more. In fact thats one of the single most important lessons I try to drive home when training new gun owners at the range.

In this game however, some weapons provide an advantage over others depending on their application.

the .22 while can insta kill with a headshot, it's not that great of a weapon. I mean if you're gonna hide in the woods and kill zeds it's fine but sooner or later you'll have to go to a town. The sks ammo isn't that uncommon and if you find and akm(or is it the 74?) you'll have the ammo for it.

conclusion: .22 is good if you're good at hiding from bandits and survivng on your own away from any where another player might be. Sks is better for when and if you get shot at and with how dayz is now you're more likely to die by another player than anything else.

.22 probably be good if you get trapped inside somewhere, I had an mp5k save my life from a couple bandits once, but the sks seems more powerful and less maintenance.

Besides, havent you heard the story about the guy that got shot a in the head with a .22 and drove to the police station and told on the guy? XD
