Mosins fine but trying to use it in close combat is a nightmare although if you get the drop on the player at close range a hip shot will take em out toot sweet if you hit.
The Carbine takes the same ammo as the SKS but with out a mag you can only chamber 1 bullet (if its teh gun in thinking of).
As for ammo, ive found SKS to be pretty easy to fine (more so than mosin).
And when i say controled bursts i mean click the mouse just enough to fire a single shot giving a slight pause then clicking again to get off another (if you dont you will end up all over the place).
And the SKS painted black just looks great... AND its bayonet looks great... yeah I like SKS's.
Oh and i forgot, when your using an SKS you dont or at least i dont feel so bad given when running with a Mosin it just makes you act more like a sniper which can be dickish, which is fine but with an SKS you at least get the feeling of having more guts as a close to medium ranged kinda marksman... or at least I have more respect for other SKS users.
Out of all of those, I think that I would go with a Mosin / AKS-74U combination.
AKS-74U for Close Quater Combat and Mosin for Long Range.
AKS for house to house and city clearance, and Mosin for out in the wild.
It simply depends on what range.
At an extreme range at around 800M+ the Mosin would be better than the SKS in my opinion. It's made purposely for Ranged Sniping.
I've never actually used the CR527 in game due to it's calliber. The problem is with that weapon is that it simply does not have the range, and it's a .22 caliber, which means that it would take quite a few shot's to the head to drop someone. I would think 2 - 3 shots would kill the subject. However, it is, in my opinion, unlikely that you will land an 800M+ shot with a CR527 in the 1st place. As far as I am aware, it has no optional attachment's in regards to scope.
As I said above though, the Mosin is custom made for long range sniping.
