Backpack Waterproofing

Just got done playing some DayZ with some friends, enjoyed some of the new items. We all found some Mariner backpacks (the waterproof ones) and got to talking about what else could be added to the realm of waterproofing... we thought of these:

1) I know of these backpack covers that are waterproof and just wrap over the bulky part your pack and stay on thanks to an elastic. I dont know what they're called technically but these, in 2 different sizes (one for the Taloons and also the Mountaineers) and a few different colors or camos.

2) My friend has this waterproofing spray can product meant for shoes that he uses on his own backpack to protect his laptop from rain. This could be used for the same effect but not a permanant one and would have to be reapplied. Each application could be 25% like the paint.

Just a couple ideas...

i have thought about #1 lots like i have even used garbage bags over a backpack to keep dry
