Logitech G35 here.
Mostly because I use Logitech for keyboard/mouse as well.
But it works nicely and had no complaints about the mic quality.

Mine is just a cheap piece from our local electronics store (not going to mention names here...) Imho it doesn't matter that much how much it costs, you have to be understandable and it has to be comfortable to wear for long times...for a laptop you might want to get a headset with usb-connector...

I use surround sound but my situation is unique. Headphones with surround sound is a must though, you HAVE to be able to identify where the sounds are coming from, its critical for survival.

Im sure once people wake up you will get lots of different replies about which specific headphones play well with DayZ. Until them you can read consumer reviews at PcGamer.com or any other gaming website or maybe that " toms pc " something or other that tests all kinds of computer accesories and hardware.

Quality IS important................... yes wearability counts but dont scarafice functionality and features that make the game better to save a few dollars you;ll just end up spending on beer anyway lol

I don't buy "gaming" accessories. Quality over shiny stuff.

I used to have Plantronics Gamecom 780s 7.1 surround which were very good for the price. I recently bought some Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 digital and they are very good and even more comfortable than the last ones. Both sets use USB connection and of course have a mic.

My friends were always surprised how I could hear were the Zs or shots were coming from. It does make a difference.

Logitech G230 Stereo Gaming Headset. $35 bucks on Amazon. Quality 100%. Washable and replaceable ear cushions. Most important they fit the big old Porkchop head comfortably.
Logitech G930 & G35 & the Logitech Z906 5.1 surround sound system.
All are amazing
