Can't cure infection?

I got thwacked by a zombie and got sick from my wound being infected. No big deal, I thought, since I was carrying almost every medical item in the game. Fast forward 4 hours of game time later, and I've cleaned the wound 4 times, sowed it up 2, bandaged 4, and even taken antibiotics. Still sick, and having to be hydrated and energized with only walking to keep my color. Any help figuring out what's wrong?

Nope, just swarmed by 6 in a hospital and ran out of bullets in my CR when the last one reached me. Pulled my P1 a little too late.

Not trying to be funny. :P It's actually just what happened. Don't really care if I do cure it or not, as long as I'm able to stick near the lake I'm at, since there's technically infinite food and water here.
