Melee Weapons Tips/Guide

Because I don't know how to melee, I'm looking for advice on how to.
I know space raises the weapon and m1 hits, but other people outmaneuvre etc.

- Use first person view.
- Some melee weapons are crap.(anything with Axe in the name is a good start, but they all do work in some way.)
- Practice circle strafing on zombies before you go after players.

Makes it a lot easier to aim, it's possible in third person, for one patch cycle I actually found it easier in third person, but in 1st you'll hit a lot closer to where the little white "dot" is.

You have better aim in first person.

Firefighter Axe > Splitting Axe / Pickaxe / Sledgehammer / FarmingHoe > Brass Knuckles/Fists
the other meleeweapons are not worth mentioning (In order 1hit kill, 2hit kill, 1-2hits KO -> finish on the ground)

I tend to play Brass and Fists in firstperson and the other weapons in 3rd person, while attacking with a weapon pull the mouse left to connect earlier with the target.

the splitting axe can be a pain, may take up to half a dozen + hits to get the kill as you can see in the gif below... the important thing to remember when facing single shot weapons is to be constantly moving to force them to turn at you... with the axe here you can see how i'm quarter circling right and turning back in to strike with the axe..

also you can get random blocks especially with the sledge hammer where you will see a big spark flash as the weapons strike... this can also happen for firearms when raised so make sure to go around and strike for the head/ upper body...

in first person put the white dot right on the forehead.. should be a guaranteed hit

i dont even use first person in dayz unless im aiming down the sights of a gun... melee in third person work just fine for me.
