DayZ
[SOLVED] High ping issues, up to 8000ms!
Good morning to everyone...
In the last few days I have been experiencig ridicolously high ping issues...I usually begin a game with ping 60/90, and in a couple of mins it can reach peaks of 3000 (the highest it reached was 8K)...than it gets normal again for a few mins and suddenly starts the issue again...
Apparently, it is not a line issue...tried ping and speed tests and give normal results for ping.
And I never had this problem before.
Other online games run just fine with 150/170ms on US servers (I live in EU)...so it's a DayZ problem...

The only things I changed recently was downloading and installing also Arma2 and Arma2OA with DayZ commander in order to spend some time on the old mod...trying to play it, it asked me to update Battleye and had to do it manually...these are the only recent changements I did...

Thanks for all the help

No help?

software firewall .... turn it off and see if it helps, otherwise restart all hardware including router, ensure you are the only person/computer on the internet including all mobile/wireless devices .... i have seen iphones kill internet connections for fun!!

I'm worried it's not a router issue...as I said all other online games are working fine...

Anyway I already tried restarting the router but nothing happened...
and no other strange devices are connected...

This happened during less than a minute to a 79ms ping flagged server I connected to...

What Firewall/anti virus are you using? also how are you connected to the router? wireless?
Velvety red panda Jan 26, 2015 @ 9:55am
Firewall - idk
AntiVirus - Kaspersky IS
Connected via wireless

But I never had problems before...I've been playing DayZ last week with no issues...in the last 2 days everything got screwed up...since I installed the Mod and updated the Battleye client manually...
But even if I uninstalled and reinstalled DayZ, DayZ mod, Arma2 and Arma2OA just like they have always been, the high ping issues keep on grounding me...

Battleye client for each product is seperate (different folders) without the correct version it will not allow you to join a server at all, so i doubt it would be this, i assume you have tried many servers? i would put exceptions in the kaspersky for dayz and battleye folders, I have kaspersky Endpoint and I have to add exceptions for a lot to avoid lag! also check your wireless drivers are upto date.

Yep, tried several servers and none kicked me for Battleye incompatibility...I just thought they might have been creating a conflict between 'em...

On Kaspersky both of them are fully allowed and considered "trustable" and I hadded some exceptions for DayZ (and for Battleye to be sure)...
In the firewall the outgoing connections are enabled and I created a rule allowing incoming connections...

And wireless drivers are already updated...

ok next thing to do .... is open a constant ping to a trusted internet server and monitor what that does while playing ...... you can either do it through a command prompt and monitor manually (but you might miss it) or you can use free ping tools, you want to ping like a local website or maybe your ISP's DNS server, see if this changes at the same time as the game, if it does then it could be the game causing issues with your hardware, if it does nothing, then its the game and maybe your hardware is not quick enough, also if you have another PC on the network run this at the same time preferably on a cabled connection to rule out the wifi being an issue :o)

Ok, I'll do it in the next half an hour...
I'm just worried some kind of file related to the game went corrupted or in conflit because it shouldn't be a matter of hardware...I always played DayZ on this pc with no connection or performance problems...

(Anyway your help is really kind of you...thank you very much! )

I checked and I sadly guess it's not just a general network problem...
I have used the EMCO Ping Monitor and, checking it while experiencing ingame high ping (it was 2000ms), it was connecting @100ms average with local websites...

As I said, it shouldn't be an hardware related issue...
But, what now? I already un- and re-installed the game and did change nothing...

What hardware are you running this on? when you uninstalled the game, did you delete the DayZ folder under the steam directory?
Velvety red panda Jan 26, 2015 @ 12:33pm
Oooops...didn't erase the folder I guess...anyway I have the same problem on DayZmod...ridicolously high ping while the PingMonitor is doing fine...

And in the meanwhile, playing Verdun on US servers I have an extremly stable at 170ms...

I'm running it on a pc with Intel I-5 3230 running 2.60Ghz with a 2gb ATI Radeon H8670m and 8gb of Ram (2gb dedicted to the ATI)...I know, i know,...it's a laptop, it has not a lot of CPU power...but I have been running DayZ for more than 100hours with absolutely no issues (except for not having more than 40fps)

Apparently some files in common between DayZ and DayZmod got corrupted.

Unistalling both of them, Arma2 and Arma2OA as well, deleting the folders of these four apps, deleting all Battleye folders and reinstalling only the SA apparently solved the issue.

Thank you very much for the help, SaS|R[e]venge®-uk*...hope to meet you in game...hoping you won't be starving and looking for beans ;)

Glad its sorted! yeh, i always manually delete folders if i am going to reinstall ... just to be on the safe side :o)
