Besides, nobody would play this game if bullet damage was realistic, trust me.
Also why there will always be someone not agreeing with the choices.
Knockdown effect on being hit would be awesome though.
Bullets dont knock you down though...
My point is, if they got too realistic with bullet damage people would never stop complaining. Instead of bandaging the wound you would have to appy pressure, dig out bullet fragments, stitch together any severed arteries, sew yourself shut, hope you dont have internal bleeding and keep it clean while it heals. Not to mention dieing from shock or infection. Personally I would love this level of realism, but most would not. For what it is, I think DayZ strikes a perfect note between realism and fun.
I took one to the chest in 2007 (friendly fire) right after I earned my CIB. It passed through one of my mags, the kydex snap in holder it was in, broke one of my plates, shredded part of my LBV and busted two ribs. The shock of the impact put me to the ground hard, so like I said it all depends on placement.
Essentually you are shooting a 'bag' of water, the hydrostatic shock and cavity determins if target goes down. If you get shot, you go down, and a shock factor of 'what the hell' takes over...BTDT. There are no 'Rambo's' out there that can get shot and move like in game...does not happen ITRW.
You put one upper chest or 'brain housing group' target goes down, fact. I do leg shoot FNG's now and then to let them 'go' when they get paniced and froggy and are too new to understand game, let them figure out bandage and splints.
Sniping in game is not sniping...it is just a rifle with a good sighting system. I sit and overwatch routes to the usual 'loot' locations that the 'pros' use with me and my son armed with SKS's. From cover at @100m we do not snipe, we ambush. When you can hit targets at 500m+ then we can discuss sniping.
Kiling people at 800 yards is still fun though :)
i dont think they want people sniping lol
Depends what you mean by that. I can mount a good scope on a rifle, zero it , and load some ammo good for 600 or 1000 yds. I can even figure how to much to turn the dials if somebody smart tells me how fast the wind is blowing and how far the barn is. Oh and sits behind me and watches the trace and tells me where my first shot went. I know two really good long range shooters that hunt at long range. 3 shot kills is a great thing at 600 yards on a deer.
If you actually had to go through all the persnicky crap to hit things far away in this game that you do in real life, nobody would worry about snipers because nobody would do it. A friend of mine calls preciision welding knitting for men. Sniping is knitting with a gun in the rain while freezing your nuts off.. I lasted one season at long range high power and went to sporting clays and 5 stand. I like smashing things not playing chess while cramped up the ground in sling.
Oh, and if you're hunting deer at 600 yards and blasting 3 shots, I am glad you don't live or hunt anywhere around me. Ethics seem to be overrated where you're from. And the guy using a 45-70 to hunt deer at 100m makes me laugh.
REVISITED: A body struck by a bullet will be propelled violently backwards. (From Episode 25)
re-busted
Even a .50 Caliber bullet does not have the momentum to knock a person backwards. If it were possible, the shooter would be knocked backwards as well – as per Newton’s Third Law.
