Fire Kits, Fireplaces, and Matches . . .this isn't making sense .....
OK I'm not sure what's going on or what I'm missing but this is what's happening.

I crafted a fireplace kit. I can't remember now if it said kit right at first or just fireplace. I couldn't figure out how to light it so I logged, then looked it up. I followed these instructions:
o add the fuel to the fire, simply open up the inventory and drag it over top of the Fireplace Kit on the left hand side. From there, all that's needed are some Matches to light it. Players need to put the Matches in their hands, then look at the Fireplace and choose the option to ignite it.

Logged back in, put the kit on the ground and it was invisible to the eye, but visible on my inventory screen, and I could interact with it. It didn't say fireplace KIT, it said FIREPLACE with 15 slots.

I added 5 sticks, put the matches in my hands, was able to get the interactive text to appaer on the screen to ignite the fire, EVEN THOUGH the fireplace is invisible, and have tried several times. Nothing happens. I am inside a house by the way.

I can't tell if this is bugged or if I'm just having bad luck lightingi the fire. Again, the fireplace is invisible except on my inventory screen.

I also tried to disassemble it, by removing the rag (ended up using it) and all that is left is the stick, but the fireplace still exists.

I am able to put things into it and put it back into my backpack, so it's really there.

I really would like to get my character warm. :)

Any suggestions?

Fireplaces are already burned out. Try adding some tinder with the logs or sticks, like a book page or a rag and try again, Otherwise you need to craft a new fire kit.

So in addition to the 5 sticks I already added, add something more?

Yea try adding a single rag or book page and try again, if that doesn't work either, it is probably a bug so you will need to craft a new fire kit.

Well...of course..now you can do some "quick" fire to warm you up by just using sticks, or go and chop some wood, then the fire lasts longer...
Also adding stones (8, if I remember correctly) lets the fire burn longer...you also can "refill" the fire while it's burning...and, when freshly burned out, you have to option to blow into the blaze...doing so after adding some stick or wood ignites the fire again...
For cooking you still need the tripod and the cooking pod, although I heard that they finally want to make the gas stove working properly..also haven't tested the oven (adding more stones to the fireplace with stones) yet...

Hias post above me said, i can comfirm, you have to collect 8 small stones from side of road of stoney patches in forest, they are stackable in your bag so dont worry about space, once you have 8 go to your fireplace kit thats on the ground, add the 8 stones and it will turn into a Stone Stove, to which you can add food directly to it, or add the tripod and pot for extra aesthetic feel,
When you do add the cooking pot, direct to the stone stove, it doesnt look like its on the fire, but its actually in it, by 'tab' ing next to fire will show you the pot. the burn for at least 45minutes that ive sat by one for , which we stacked 2 lots of x5 logs so had 10logs in the fire too .

..yep...forgot about the stacking wood ability of the fireplace...

Sticks burn rather fast, to make a fire last long you need to add fire wood. Most trees give you about three pieces of fire wood so that's a plus :D I try to carry two logs with me if I plan to leave the woods for some reason, just in case I get caught in a storm and need to warm up fast.

I rarely use a fire to warm up, finding waterproof clothes is too easy.

I've been wearing waterproof clothing for some time, yet after days and days (weeks) of keeping dry, not seeing any messagsa of being cold etc, and being healthy and bright lime green on all the indicators, that small shaking of the hands persisted (the kind you can see when holding a gun).

So I took my temperature.and I was only 35°C (95°F. That's a bit too cold. Created a fast burning fire, instantly warmed up to 37.1°C (98.6°F).

So, there you go
