any good survival open world game worth recommending?

i am asking on here because i see the biggest fanbase of the probably only good by comparison survival game on steam. outside of steam probably next to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. online
are there any survival games on steam worth buying that aren't p2w/cash cows for the devs?
are there any non steam survival games out there worth investing in?
should i invest in Day Z?

i have only played one other survival game called nether and it was a piece of ♥♥♥♥ on a stick

okay how long has it been in alpha for?

also any other games while i wait for it to not be in alpha/fully released?
i dont mind paying full price for a finished game

Alpha since December 2013, about 1.5 years.
Beta will start at the end of the year and last about 6 months.
The game will be completed in about 2.5 years total.

If you're also looking for single-player games, I'd highly recommend Dying Light.
Or S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat with the Misery mod.

im looking for a survival mutliplayer game

not necesarrily have to be about zombies nor single player survival

although survival on its own is good not to say it isnt

but if its by yourself there really is no point to it. you know bragging rights


i have heard of a long dark that actually does look pretty cool i might buy it with my next steam funds

as for dead state welp so many negative reviews spontaneously arose so i think imma wait on that

idk i'll check out project zombiod seems like a catchy title game

wow they look really good both of them
think ill add those to the list when i get my steam wallet i may buy them (also when released lol although ill wait a couple of weeks make it a habit of waiting for the reviews and youtube footage just incase)

Me too i super rarely buy games on day1 not so much for the sake of reviews and Ytubers to get a go at it but more to get the "worst" day1 release kinks out of the way, overload on servers etc... think we all remmember the D3 launch ;)

Well if you are looking for a game that makes no profit for the developers i suggest playing a free to play game with no ingame purchases avaliable. Why would anyone spend months or years making a game when they wont make money, and yes Dean Hall made a killing but he is putting a lot of money back into the game and not just running with it.

Also there is no decent open world survivor game that i am aware of that has ingame purchases which means it can not be a p2w game.

i didnt mean it like that
i meant where their prime objective isnt to make money
i can probably name about 20 non survival/zombie games right off the bat that are p2w trainwrecks
which again im asking around
