35$ for an alpha game?
Why? Why does this cost 35$ dollars? For an alpha build no less...

If I lost my account and had to make another one, I would buy this game again, and again, and again. this game can be 35$ but you sure as hell wont regret it when you meet people, trust me.

Im trying to say that it is worth the money, the game is actaully cheap (for me at least) for an alpha game that is so good. If you are every planning on buying it in the future buy it now as, as it will get more expensive in the future

The price will increase as development progresses as the "pricing model" has suggested and buying it when it was first released to the public or now is a reduction in price. Remember you''re buying into the project too support the dev's and in return will have the finished title at the price you bought it for. (This will answer your question).

The DayZ standalone pricing model to be similar to Minecraft - Date: May 27, 2013.

Well… We don’t know the exact price but what we do know is pretty good news. According to a Gamasutra interview: The DayZ standalone will be using a pricing model similar to that of Minecraft where those interested in playing the game have the option to buy the alpha at an extremely discounted price. Once the game enters beta, the price will go up some — Hall’s saying about $10 and then when the game goes live it will increase in price again — possibly another ten bucks.

Why not do a free alpha?

Not only does it make the project financially viable, but it means those participating in the alpha are those who have made a financial commitment. It also limits the numbers to those willing to part with their hard earned cash.

What is the pricing model?

The game will get more expensive as it moves through its development, starting out fairly cheap and rising in price as its matures and more features get added. When you buy it once, you will have access to the whole DayZ Game. No decision or information exists about DLC or anything like that, but we can confirm that DayZ will not feature in-game purchases

$35 is high in my opinion for an Alpha game.

Actually, i already own the game, i bought it when it was 15 dollars. A buddy of mine asked if he should get it, but for 35 dollars? why raise the price when its still in alpha? Moved to beta and I could understand, but why bump up the price? Is the game doing worse than I expected? And from the comment above, And some personal experiences, the community doesnt seem so willing to let new players in.

So I Have to ask again, why the 35$ price tag? And just for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles, why should I recommend this to a friend?

All video games are expensive for what they are.. I've played terrible games that cost 50$. I paid 24 euros for this one and got my money's worth even in an alpha state. Now I'm waiting to see the final result and if it is not decent I'm not buying a BI game again, it is as simple as that.

@Superfudge

Honestly, I would suggest you too not recommend this too your friend if he/she is having an issue about the price. I've bought titles which I've only got 20 hours less entertainment out off and those titles cost a lot more, maybe your friend should look for a more complete tilte in or around the same price bracket, as "Alpha" projects just may not be for them.

Just like all early access projects it's the risk you take when getting involved with such projects and once it's reached the final version, then and only then will you know if your money as been well spent or if you've clocked up some crazy amount of hours.. Which is the case for this Alpha project.

DayZ has never been lower than $30. That's the price it released with, then increased to $35 right before a sale of -15%, which dropped it back to $30 for a while as a result of some kind of miscommunication. Regardless, never $15.

And if your friend isn't already interested in DayZ, you shouldn't recommend it to them.
The price will go up again in the future, the final price being $50 when officially released.

Your going to pay $35 for an alpha, because if not, you'll pay more when the game is released...

makes enough sense??

Your not paying $35 just for an alpha, and pay again when the game is fully completed. So why not tell them to buy it now, and just wait till it is released. Or do you recommend your friend pay even a higher price than $35?? since its still going to go up in price during BETA, and once it is fully released

We must admit that there is a big risk involved when buying early access games, look what happened to Stomping Land for example.

For me without a doubt the best money i have ever put into a game and the best thing is its not even done yet, so i can only see this purchase as a win for me.

Its why you look up the devs first.. check to see if they have a track record, etc..

and frankly, since they made all the Arma series, and Arma 3 came out just before Standalone, it was a no brainer that it'll be completed like every of their other titles.

Involving in EA can have risks, sure, but don't blindly throw money at a company that you know nothing about. Sometimes, looking at the EA's plans, and concepts, are enough to raise red flags

1: how did i manage to get 2 coppies of the game for 30? because I bought 2 both for 15. 2: My friend is already looking for a game like dayz, But im having a hard time find any reason why i should recommend it to him. And as i've said, 35$ is a bit high for an alpha.

That makes no sense, especially regarding that last comment i just replied to. My buddy would end up paying 85 dollars for this game? Now I might be wrong, but Im assuming that after this game releases, those who bought alpha will keep the game? or just an alpha build?

You bought the game it's yours at the price you've payed for it. You'll recieve the finished version for the price you/we bought it at.
