Cooking meat on a fireplace
Is it still glitched? Been cooking for ever and it still says raw even though its a dark red color.

No, it takes like 5-7 minutes, it depends on how cold the area the fireplace is in is. Adding rocks and more wood accelerates it.

You can add up to 8 rocks, each of which accelerates cooking. Times can be as low as 2 mins with 8. I find that a second log actually does NOT change cook times - odd, but true. So save the backpack space, install the rocks once and call it a day. You CAN store a fireplace with its wood by placing the fireplace with rocks in your bag, then ADDING the wood to it - it will not go into a bag with log already installed. The next time you need it, you will have to place the fireplace, remove the log, then re-install it before lighting. =-) Cook times also vary on the type of meats. Found pork the slowest, rabbit the quickest. Will have to try human one day.. =-) <My wife and I subsist solely on hunted meat and have been that way for several months...we cook...ALOT.>

One time I was cookin with a buddy, and I remembered it took a long time last time I tried to cook, and I figured I needed more firewood. I told my buddy I'd go get some more and to keep an eye on the meat. I was gone for one minute, and when I came back, the meat was burnt. I told him "What the hell man, they're burnt!" and he was like "Hey I looked away for one second and when I looked back they were burnt!", then I said "You had one job!"

So my guess it's semi-glitched and cook times are very inconsistent.

the name and color of the meat will change from raw (pinkish) to cooked (brownish) to burned (blackish)...the background color doesn't matter...and different meats do have different cooking times

Would have to ask if thats a fire or gas stove. Gas stoves have ALWAYS been glitched, and burn food directly from raw almost 100% of the time, even if the entire stove's assembly, including the gas canister and pot are pristine. Properly cooked foods on a fire will only remian that way for @ 15 seconds, then go to burnt.

Be advised fish fillets do NOT turn brown, but simply lighten a BIT in color, so keep a careful eye on it when cooking. The safest bet is to place the items you are cooking as far right as possible in the fireplace, as cooked items immediately move to the far left on their own.
