The zombies are harder, essentially.

Better sight, hearing, can take more damage...

They can spot and hear you 300 meters away anyway so whats the difference.

It is a bit of a hangover from early days of the Alpha release. No longer applies, I believe; was replaced by Hardcore/Regular and then 1st Person/1st-3rd Person.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the ONLY difference between the "hardcore/regular" servers is that HC is 1st person view only and Regular you have the choice of 1st/3rd person view (they recently changed the naming convention so players would understand that). :j

Veteran servers is a kind of naming which was used for the mod originally..
Veteran servers there had harder AI on the missions, also the zeds have been harder...afaik, the server providers tended to name the servers (the official ones) like that, later it was used by others to kind of announce that only experienced players *should* join that server....

Granted I havent played in a bit, but last I did... .46 or so...

The zombies could take more damage and did have better sight on veteran.

That hasn't been the case since about February.
