Is the Sporter 22 a good weapon?

SKS for sure, but you'll find way less ammo for it. The sporter with a 30rnd magazine isn't that bad tho.

Sporter is an almost silent weapon. perfect for sneaking up on a few people, killing 1-2 with perfects shots and reposition. You are gone until they realize where you were ( most likely at close range, but direction is hard to spot )

SKS is probably the best of the common weapons. Tbh if ur not far into the DayZ experience (judging by ur question) I wouldn't fuss too much, experience counts for a lot more than the weapon itself. Get the time in and build up the in game knowledge with any weapon, see what works and what doesn't.

A common mistake is for players to spend too long going for the best gear and then not knowing how to use it effectively aka the player openly running round a city with a Mosin and scope.

for me the sawed off shot gun is MY weapon, i dont like sniping from distance (i am bad shot) and 99% of my firefights are close combat.

bad aim and shotgun is very effectiv in close range.

may I ask.... how do you deal with having to take the 2nd shot? Your first shot will hurt and bleed a geared player but probably won't take them out.... and certainly invite return fire.

i always fire both barrels. within 50 feet its always deadly.
my aiming is bad and some pellets will miss, but the most are deadly.
This works only with the sawed off, the pumpguns are an bit nerverd, they dont spray there pelletts

Any weapon you find with ammo and mags/clips will do fine. I mean, what good is a gun without ammo?

Your sporter 22 has nearly everything going for it, you've got a magazine so 30 shots before you need to reload means you can fire a lot, It's accurate, has almost no recoil and is very quiet. Bullets are easy to find.

The problem is it's stopping power is low compared to other weapons.

But most weapons in dayz have choices to weigh up like this, 'what's the best weapon in the game?' is a very hard question, because the 'best weapons' are hard to find, or hard to find attachments,it needs a magazine or bullets are hard to find.

Learn the strengths and weakness of each weapon, including how rare and you'll start to form a mental picture of what you prefer.

Most of all remember a weapon with bullets is better then one that you don't have bullets for.

A friend of mine got hit in the head with the sporter, just wearing a balaclava, not even a helmet, survived after losing conciousness. Im afraid the sporter is the weakest of all the rifles, like the makarov is the weakest handgun. Worthless? not at all, certanly better than nothing, but if you plan on PVP, you need to get somethin better
