also I set my trap and ran off to ponder on new spawns. Came back and there was a rabbit. Still having trouble harvesting without using F11. Even if f11 works, it gives me nothing most of the time.
Every time i did it I stuck my trap down within woods (somewhere I could find again), which for me was a dry river bed. I then went off and searched a nearby group of buildings (the ones just east of the bolota apartment complex near the lighthouse?). Searching took me about 10 minutes I came back and usually there was a rabbit in one of the traps, once i waited about 15 minutes to get one, and one time I simply sat cooking all the rabbit I had prior only about 40 feet from my trap, and when i had cooked all the meat there was another rabbit in my trap.
Personaly i think basicly stick it where you like, and wait 10-20 minutes return and your traps should have a rabbit or two in em (Id stick down at least 3, given every trap ups your chance of catching one significantly probability wise). I think all the mumbo jumbo people subscribe to catching them is nothing but superstition.
And no there was no other rabbits hopping around nearby, although there was a boar at one point, but he wasnt around when I caught the rabbits (it was on a different day).
On second thought, about 50-100m away, I shot a rabbit with my mosin the other day.
