water bottle volume vs canteen volume?
I poured water from one into another and it seems like the water bottle can hold more volume than the canteen right now. previously the canteen was better i think at least. anyway, can anyone confirm this?

Yeah, the canteen seems to only hold 750ml at maximum while the PET bottle holds roughly a litre. Kind of a strange change, but meh.

Have you actually ever compared a canteen vs a PET bottle? This change makes perfect sense.

A standard quart canteen = 946 ml
A standard 16 ounce water bottle = 473 ml

When it was raining it took 15 "catch rainwater" actions to fill a canteen and 35 "catch rainwater" actions to fill a water bottle. Assume from this that water bottle holds more than twice the volume of a canteen. They both take 2 slots in inventory so now if I find a water bottle I ditch the canteen and take the bottle.

PET bottle is 600ml like most bottles that size, and the canteen is 450ml

in europe and middle east those pet bottles are a standard 1 liter. if you were ever deployed to iraq you have used them. us canteens that are the ones in the game are only 1 quart like in real life.

also once weight is implemented would you really want to be carrying shed loads of water?

Neither.

Next to Cooking Pots, they are both ♥♥♥♥, at the minute.

In fact, the Canteen is probably the worst option of the three.

At least a PET Bottle can be used as a custom suppressor.

A Cooking Pot holds more water than 2 Canteens, and can be used to store food / equipment in it, whilst it is also full of water.

Nice necro here, but ok. The differences are ok'ish I think. The canteen should be more durable, can't say anything about that. That you can store items and water in the pot must be a bug. On the downside, you can't add lard no more as substitute for the water. And you can't show the inventory at the moment. With pans this works now, so I prefer them. Anyone tried cooking with pans in 0.58?

I have not tried yet.

However, I am tempted to empty one of my AK74 mags and put the ammo from that, into the cooking pot, putting it on a campfire, and seeing what happens.

Just for lolz.

most likely they will just ruin. put them in the fire instead. should give you some nice popcorn sounds and I heard something of a minimal chance of getting hit by ricochet. but that might be just a myth. or is it ??....dadaaaa
