Good config file settings.
Anyone know what are the optimal config file settings for this game, so you can see players from a distance and not get a disavantage and simultaneously get a good FPS boost?

Specs:

quad-core i5-3450 @ 3.10Ghz
GTX 750 Ti
8gb of ram

READ IF YOU WANT OPTIMIZATION.

NVIDIA CARDS SCROLL DO THE BOTTOM PART FIRST THEN SUSS OUT THE CONFIG FILE.

before i start better let you know
my specs are intel i7 2600k cpu @ 3.4-3.7 mhz 4 cores 8 logical processors
16gb of ram
2 slotted sli nvidia590gtx not sure how thats going :P just running the one card atm.
I am running after market water cooler on my system on my CPU. (having issues OC'ing)

:)

im no pro but i spent a heap of time optimising my DayZ game.
its a prick of a process

go to your dayz config file.

-open Computer > click documents > open DayZ.cfg
-and also open > {yourDayZprofilename}DAYZ PROFILE
with note pad or a better notepad.

you can change the settings might take a bit of playing with depending on your specs.

PROFILE FILE

"scene complexity" = 220,000 (this is what i have, nvidia ge force experience [when i clicked this new optimize option] it set my scene complexity to 200,000. great fps, but I bumped it up a little because this makes objects far away looke like paper/clay models.
the pro to having it lower than usual is you gain more FPS and when sneaky bandits are hiding in pine trees at a distance you have a better chance of spotting them cause the quality is rough.
highest value you can go is 1,000,000.
-----------------------------------------------
"viewdistance"= 1000-3000. i set mine to 2500.
"preferredObjectViewDistance"= 2000. just set it below your viewdistance.
"shadow distance"=100 i havent touched this.
----------------------------------------------

"terrain grid" = 25 is good. dont drop below 4,
50 is the max i think.
-----------------------------------------------
THIS IS FOR 16:9 1920x1080 displays
"fovTop=1.03"
"fovLeft=1.83"
(check your monitor.)
-------------------------------

DAYZ CONFIG FILE

"AToC=6;" set this to 6. trust it disables some crap with the grass, I set this to 6 got fps boost and didn't look further into.
look further into it if you can be bothered.

these settings below are what i have im not to sure
my GPU maxframesahead is = 1
gpu detected is = 1
hdr precision = 8
pip qaul = 3
ppaa = 2.

NOTE. you can save both these text files and in the properties select READ ONLY this will stop the settings in game from making changes to that file.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ADDING ADDITIONAL LAUNCH PARAMETERS

right click DayZ in library > properties > Launch Parameters

copy paste this > straight up -high -MaxMem=2047 -MaxVram=2047
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BEFORE YOU DO THE BELOW
dont push it past your CPU limit
*figure out what your CPU has go to start menu type in system information and open that up when it appears, all your info is there :)

if your CPU has 8 processors > -exthreads=7
for 6 > -exthreads=5
for 4 > -exthreads=3

if your CPU has 4 cores add this > -cpucount=4
you want to be running all your cores. dont push it past or you may cause damage.

EXTRA OPTIMIZATION FOR NVIDIA CARDS.

make sure your cards drivers are updated, and geforce experience installed.

you can go into the games tab in geforce experience, now you can click optimization, then test the game, it will likely look ♥♥♥♥ and run wicked.

now get out of that and click on nvidia in your bottom right toolbar again and select nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > select dayz or add it to the list.

Antialiasing - Mode = Enhance the application setting
Antialiasing - Setting = 8xCSAA (does not affect frame rate) so setting it lower will probably make you lose frames.

Multi-display/mixed -gpu acceleration = Single display performance mode
power management mode = prefer maximum performance
Texture filtering - anisotropic sample optimization = off
" " - negative LOD bias = Allow
Texture filtering - Quality = Quality
" " - Trilinear optimization = On

Vertical sync = Off
Virtual Reality pre -rendered frames = 1

I dont drop below 30 fps in cities now even up north.

Hope this helps.

Why do you need one? I run a regular 2060 @1440p on almost max settings (some of them kill FPS at max with no visual gain) and i run around with 90-144FPS (capped at refresh rate.)
