"immersive survival experience" I mean, it is a decent survival experience, especially if you put the time into it. It isn't a "hold your hand" type of game. You have to learn things yourself or take the easy way and look them up (craftable items, base building help etc)

Stalker is a singleplayer type game with a campaign (I have the og Stalker games but never really put much time into them or beat them)

It's a "A mix of action, horror, survival, and RPG elements in a dark Eastern European sci-fiction setting" "A non-linear story in which your choices lead to one of many endings"

Just give this game some time or maybe find another game like Stalker.

Also, If you want to play this game solo, you can do so by running your own DayZ Server (in Tools in your library) or jump into a Community Server for PVE and don't worry about getting killed and treat the other survivors as NPCs

Can't say how much you would enjoy it as i don't know you at all but,
You CAN play DayZ as a solo no problems and find out.
Just expect to die a lot with little or no idea who or how.
We all do, often.
:beanz:
try wurm online if u really want survival

Same as for playing in a group really. This game has no set goals, you just play around with what the devs gave you - you can f.e. set yourself a goal to die out of being poisoned by the "unknown food can", or to get a specific outfit for yourself, or to fill your inventory with nothing but canned bacon,... yeah, you just do whatever you feel like doing.

That would be me. The game IS better when you're playing with someone, but it can also be just as fun when you're on your own - you'll just get even more cautious of your surroundings.

This game 100% can be described as an "immersive survival experience where I can play solo", because it favors realism much more than 95% of other survival games, and you also can play solo just fine, but as the game is multiplayer-only, be prepared for just about anything when you meet other players. You can also play on a local server (only accessible to you and anyone connected to your LAN), hosted on your own PC through the DayZ Server tool downloaded via Steam separately.
In this game there is no "story mode" or anything of that sort - if that's what you're looking for, then this is not the right game. In fact, there is no realistic zombie survival game (at least of those that I know of) that has a story mode.

Perfect solo playable!
99% of my few thousands hours are from solo gaming. With the years my focus switched from casual gameplay to modded survival gameplay with slightly increased difficulty. Found my place to relax, its rare that i visit another server. Number 1 death reason for me.. wrong decisions or wrong priority order. Cant remember the last pvp kill, must be years ago.

If you have an imagination, the ability to create your own objectives and time to immerse yourself in the world then this is a good game for solo players.

Not only are there official servers that are high pop and low pop but your character can travel between them by switching servers. This means your character can travel across multiple servers with some restrictions. Only official servers have a Hive.

Also there are many community servers with a vast array of mods providing different types of game play.

I'm basically playing it as a Walking Dead game. Meeting other survivors, going to different factions (Chenarus, Livonia, Sakhal) and trying to figure out what my end goal is. Since building isn't my cup of tea and no reason to build in a game where they don't care about it as much (should just take it out since people are being ♥♥♥♥♥ and building in front of doors/places stopping you from entering)

If the player isn't on the map, their buildings shouldn't be on it or don't let people block off points of interest/houses/places you can loot. I have to avoid cool places or can't loot for important/needed things cause of this.

But anyways, rant over, Every time I die, I respawn as someone new (new character to the walking dead) I was a psycho, killer, friendly, hunter etc. Learning stuff as I go and trying to see how long I can keep a character alive for, if I don't get myself killed cause of something stupid as a sickness or not having a drink/food when running on low (and don't have the items needed to get food = gun, knife, this/that)

It's a really good game but is very slowly getting to the state it should have been on at the official release. They don't care for base building, why not just remove that crap? or have an option for a Server to not include it. More animations for things, especially having them animate correctly and everything else that needs to be added/fixed/updated and what not.

Edit: they should just hire Modders because from what I see, they are better than most people from the Dev team doing/adding things to/for this game. It would surely speed up the process at fixing this game up.

theres so much confusion in your edit.....

- they hired modders. quite a few "just" this year.
- u already see their work on sakhal and 1.26
- the most popular mod in the game is done by the creative lead of dayz.
- more devs probably wouldnt change much, as the whole dev team is at its limits with the hybrid of an engine they have to use.
- the devs support the modding community and update its tools with every patch

some obvious things u seem to ignore:
- theres more modders than devs.
- bohemia is a business, not a charity
- a business needs to make money
- a business has expanses
- they cant just hire "devs" / "modders" if theres no income (the game is out over a decade and mostly everyone with a slight interest in this kind of games already bought this years ago).
It's funny how Sandbox RPers pretend that 100 variations of the same guns, more magazine types to look for, and thick bases that kill my frames is what keeps dayz alive.

Blow the doors up with explosives and take the loot.

Where I play nails and locks are so hard to find (amongst many other things as well) that building a door and securing it is a good challenge. Mostly loot has to be left unsecured in hidden campsites. We have never been a fan of big bases with tons of loot but even then some players love to play like that and this is DayZ. Play it your own way. :)

Myself I like to leave traps hidden around players bases in the hope it will give them a nasty surprise.

The view that either mods or devs are going to finish this game is idiotic. The devs give us a vanilla version of this game which suits their view of the gameplay whilst keeping the game wide open for other players to mod it into a version of DayZ that they enjoy.

So if I want faster metabolism, slower health and blood regen, more Z's with more variety which can be found roaming map wide including in the woods, less types of certain loot, long nights, harsher weather, etc, etc ,etc - well I can have that by modding the game. It certainly does not make the game complete/finished in anyway.........but it does allow me to play the type of Zombie apocalypse I want to play. I don't have to play a finished version of the game at all.....the server can be endlessly altered/manipulated/modded into whichever flavour I feel like.

BI give us a game which can be modded in many ways to suit many tastes. Its not a game of Devs V Modders. Its a sandbox where we can create our own game thanks to the work done by the Devs and the modders together.

Solo - burning time. Multi - enjoying game together. Having someone next to you is a whole different game.
