DayZ
Is there an Offline mode?
I know I'm an anti-social introvert. That being said, I want to play the game offline and want to know I can do that before I buy it.

cant play offline but you could always play on a server that is dead in population which would be the same thing technically, but trust me it would be really really boring if you could. its worth the money in my opinion its my fav game but it takes a bit of learning and trial and error to get the hang of things, like ive got 1600+ hours and i still feel like im not the best at pvp but its the experience of each life that makes dayz specal

There's no conventional way to play offline as far as I know. As it is right now you need to connect to a server in order to play.

However, you can play on either PvE servers or low/zero population servers and not worry about other players. They are quite easy to find.

There is also the possibility to run/rent your own server and make it password locked, which may be a bit excessive but it's the closest to getting an offline/pure solo experience.

I'll also mention that it is a fun game to play solo, even on normal servers. You don't need to interact with anyone if you don't need to, and you can mute.

The easiest and free option is to install the server program from Steam on your computer. Unless your pc is exceptionally weak, it'll have no trouble running the game and a one person server at the same time. Setting it up takes a few minutes of work, but fortunately there's lots of good tutorials for it online. Adding more complex mods is another matter though.
there are many awesome servers with or without mods that have 0 population where you can play

First, it's important to clarify what these words mean: "Offline" is not the same thing as "single-player" or "alone" ..

Yes, you can absolutely play DayZ "alone" or in "single player" mode, by hosting your own Local Server (or renting a very inexpensive server from a service, on a monthly basis).
- There is a DayZ Server app available through Steam that makes setting up a "single player" server very easy. If you purchase the game, there are a lot of people here who will help you on this, if you need it.

That said: DayZ can not be played with Steam in "Offline mode" .. You must be connected to the Internet and signed in to Steam in "Online mode" for the Game to connect to the Steam and BattlEye authentication and AntiCheat servers.

^^^ this.

I'd run your own server using the Steam server app, totally free, and if you want to tweak your game to make it easier/harder/different, it's a fun experience. Holy Rusted Metal is spot on.

Tell us what you chose, and have fun. This game is definitely worth the price.

Ironically enough.
If you install the DayZ steam server,
under the mpmissions folder it creates you'll find these 3 folders;

dayzOffline.chernarusplus
dayzOffline.enoch
dayzOffline.sakhal

This is the only way to play DayZ in "offline" mode.
Check this video out, it explains how to make an offline lan server on your pc:

Watch it on yourtube so you can see the video description where you can copypaste the things needed for the batchfile which you have to create.
