How bad is the cheater problem nowadays on official servers?

Hacker on server Europe DE 2599 at 10:20 UK time. Stripped my player of all loot/clothes and was able to gas me in the middle of woods. Then appeared and was laughing. First time i've experienced a hacker on official servers.

official u can play for weeks all good then u get a day or 2 were the cheaters are on , there are so many varibles on dayz everything kills u some days cheaters dont get a chance to ,ive been killed 40 x this week , lost prob 9 full geared guys , 18 half way guys the rest newbees barly getting a drink at taps , i had a cheat come up tell me who i was ? fully decked in nice gear not dayz official gear, only 1 gun on shoulder had a talk to him he turning back to see if id attack him i didnt so i suppose thats why he didt kill me, told him im over it atm dieing left right n center , we heard shooting i ran over as newbee to see whats going on he come over jumps at fence shoots whoever it was , my official server has carnage atm 30 newbees running a muck , its like fun been new u dont have to care , soon as u get stuff its worry time every were u go just now died from a wolf bite they dont warn any more , shot in back of a train carage last nite it was full of army gear i was loaded up somehow he got the shot angle , oh 3 guys fully decked in humbee other day to can u bring car when u hopping servers they shoot me eventually after tying me up , they dont talk back the single guy did after a while .

We can deduce that number progressed to at least 20k since year before that had ~30k banned accounts. Overall number (from "beginning of dayz" - 2013) is 120k banned. From 2013 to 2023 - 10 years. 120/10 = 12k per year. 30k banned in 2022 and at least 20k in 2023. Did anyone heard about new special defensive mechanisms implemented to dayz? I havent myself heard of anything like that. Its only natural then that problem will be growing, especially since game is getting more attention ( https://steamcharts.com/app/221100#All ). And finally - people are sharing their experiences on forums of the internet. Either here, official dayz discussion board or reddit. Not a day without new reports. Will that suffice?

Those were good estimates, withered. According to the dev blog last week, they banned 20,000 turds this year, totalling 150k.

2023 Jan-Nov there were 33.9k players online on average and they said BE banned over 30k. The same period in 2024 was 36.2k and they banned only 20k.
So it doesn't look like the problem is getting worse to me. Of course it's also possible that BE detects less cheaters.

It is so sad to hear this, honestly. Because I play on PS5 on official, started only 10 days ago. And I am having lots of fun. Cheaters here dont exist.
I think Bohemia should be called out and really do something for good to fix it so you have playable official DayZ.

Depends on the server and time of day. Livonia has been quiet this patch on EU. None of my stashes have been found yet. I have hoarded more loot in 50 hours than I managed in my first 1000 hours.

I did hear someone spamming explosions in the woods and there was a weird particle effect coming from the direction. Logged out to check if there's a Chinese player online, and there was, so didn't log back in :9

There's some cheats that let you spam explosions and create environmental effects like smoke, and change the stats of weapons. They can seemingly alter a gun to fire 100 bullets in one shot, for example. Some streamer met a cheater who destroyed base walls that way.
