why are devs so silent since frostline launched?
for a multiplayer-only game, and as popular as it is, it's kinda crazy to me how Bohemia (DayZ dev) more or less went silent since Frostline launched on 10/15/24. ya gotta do something to keep the game "in the discussion" not just push small patches every 4 months.

it really does feel like they're doing DayZ dirty, there's SO MUCH untapped potential (for us and for them $$$)

I have not noticed any difference in dev activity before or after the Frostline update. There's no need to keep rambling about something for no reason, just for the sake of talking. They did their job, and thousands of players are now enjoying the new map. Could you elaborate on how this feels 'dirty'? What are you basing this on? They are a business and want to make money. You talk as if that's a bad thing

your reading comprehension isn't very good, is it? "doing DayZ dirty" doesn't mean the devs are being dirty businesspeople, it means they aren't giving DayZ the resources it deserves (imo.) also, i literally said they could be making a lot more money with it, which is the exact opposite of saying making money from DayZ is a bad thing.

Dayz doesn't do what Dayz does for Dayz, Dayz does what Dayz does because Dayz Is Dayz!

He is right, though. One of the main reasons why Rust is so popular is the fact that every month there is something new, even if it's goofy and irrelevant. They released buggy wolves recently (nobody asked, but it's new, and new brings players), and not even one month later, they were fixed.

Meanwhile, DayZ has a sea of problems to fix. Losing health and even losing a fight to teleporting zombies who animation-cancel gets old real quick. Just yesterday, I dismantled my metal wall, and the items got stuck in the wall behind me, and I could no longer access them. Don't you love carrying metal sheets (I could not resist a stack of 6) for 15 minutes for absolutely nothing?

https://dayz.com/article/general/Christmas_event_2024 - latest info from them? 5 days ago. There are also podcasts/streams. And about lost building materials - it was reported, all those problems with construction/dismantling. By tickets and suggestions. Generally speaking, basebuilding is a lost cause. It hasnt changed since 2018/9.

I really think they should tweak, rebalance and add some stuff tho

So..if the devs release something new every month which keeps players coming back, how does that equal more money for the devs, exactly?

And how should the devs keep the game "in the discussion" as you say?

I agree they could do a lot more marketing but they definitely haven't been silent since the DLC release. There's been one game update, multiple dev streams, competitions, new merch, two in-game events, community spotlights, charity, dev blogs etc.

They have been very busy. There's been no end of rationalization, justification, procrastination, and obfuscation. They don't want you knowing they reused an Arma II map, Tanoa. Or that they have nerfed your backpacks for the sake of "reducing storage lag," or "balance," or whatever BS is being pushed (which in reality just makes the stupid purses look more useful). They've added... almost nothing... just a very couple of things, done a crap job of QA (duplicate paintings on the walls of the SAME ROOM, square snow, empty map, problematic servers, and the same sound issues as always), and introduced mechanics that most of us who play Namalsk have had for years FREE. Oh, and that while charging more than the base game. Merry effing x-mas.

In short, they've been very busy.... which is why they've been so quiet. Plus... hey, it's the holidays! Big smile... BIG smile.
