- Spawning in
- Rushing to the nearest tree/bush to get sticks/bark
- Crafting a fire
- Lighting a fire
- Stand around for a few minutes to get warm and heat buff
I got tired of it pretty fast and stopped playing because of it. I don't have a problem with survival mechanics that make things more challenging, but I do have a problem with a mechanic that forcibly dictates the first few minutes of your character's life EVERY SINGLE TIME you respawn
The fact that you don't get to spawn with a single heat buff is what makes the gameplay loop so boring because, if you do anything other than rush to make a fire when you spawn, you're gonna be running around freezing, getting sick, and starving due to heightened hunger drain when cold
TLDR - wait till the current experimental branch changes are made official, but there is good reason for the empty Sakhal servers.
Is the DLC worth it?
It depends on what you have to spend of course, but I would say no. The hypothermia mechanics are poor, and Amogus gives a pretty accurate description of how that makes the game less attractive to play. It's not realistic.
If you have a read through the changelog for the experimental branch update for Sakhal, I think you could say the devs are trying hard to add some value to the DLC .
However - low pop official servers on Sakhal are not all bad. Gear up with food, clothes and fire lighting kit on Cherno or Livonia, then spawn into Sakhal. Get to the military crate spawns on islands that can be reached across the ice without a boat, collect some M4s M16s or AK101s and mags and ammo then go back to Cherno/Livonia armed to the teeth.
As for the survival element it's like survival in thethe rest of the game,
a little Meh TBH.
Amogus pretty much nailed the basic loop. Basically, if you don't
love to light fires all the time then hang around for 10 min
so you can move a couple of k's you might not like it.
I agree, without the PvP element it gets a little tedious.
Don't get me wrong i love Namaslk and the servers i play usually is this mechanic of building heat buff, but it seems that this map don't get much action. I really liked the shape of the map, the glacial island etc.. but if anybody is playing i don't see the point of buying
