Why do tree branches block bullets?
I shouldn't have to hold my breath hoping that my bullet doesn't get blocked by a tree branch or reduce the damage so much that it barely does any damage to someone

I just had a scenario not even 10 minutes ago where I saw someone who was crouching near a tree with a blue beret on. After shooting them in the head (blood splatter out the top of the head) and watching them fall over behind a stone wall, I held my position because I knew there were 2 of them. Not even 30 seconds later, the guy stands back up and runs away into the trees despite having a bullet lodged in their head

Tree branches (the twigs, not the solid branches themselves) shouldn't have hitboxes that can block bullets and that's that

I agree that it doesn't make sense for branches to significantly affect bullets.

Even weirder is that you can shoot people through the core of the tree. Realistically, bullets aren't going to pass through a 1ft diameter trunk.

I'd argue if your bullets are capable of going through a tree trunk, then branches aren't going ro have a significant impact on the bullet's impact.

Really, this got worse simply because of server side performance optimization.
Before they "simplified" the tree hitboxes a close to mid range fight with two active shooters that involved a tree or trees would end with both players being dead 8 out of 10 times. Trees just don't like being shot at.
