Base building is not so bad
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3403401771

It took 3 weeks for someone to raid this, and I got to build 2 others that are still up.
I also logged off with a kit to start a fresh base just in case.

It's almost hard to get fully wiped out. Just build multiple hidden bases (2 gates max) instead of a single thick base.

You're better off just hiding the stashes in walls or level geometry than challenging and alerting players to its presence with a base.
Then what am I going to do with all these axes, these saws, these nails, these locks, and these metal wires?
I also don't want to tempt wallers... who are not into raiding 2 doors for a single gun and a few building mats.
Building bases is pretty much my end game, idc about roaming military bases for gear until I get domed by a camper.
You can even min max it by putting 4 digit locks on your first door and 3 digits on your second door.
Just to not tempt code raiders.
I like how neatly you arranges the crates. You can drop them all in the same spot though, so it looks like there's only one crate. That makes the base look less loaded.

Oh nono, I wouldn't recommend this. I raided a two story base with 7 gates a couple of days ago, and the last 4 gates had 3 digit locks.

I cracked the first 3 dial in less than a minute, and then thought "Surely they wouldn't?" They did. The last 4 gates had the same code. I saved so much ammo I decided to blow up the entire second floor with my last detonator.

I heard another player outside soon after. If the builders didn't use 3 dials, I would have had to run back to my stash to get more ammo, and the player outside could have killed me, saving the base.
All my things have different codes and I do put a red one for the first door. My logic is that if you're past the red one you most likely have booms for the rest anyway.
I just know that raiding is easy, but you can choose places where people don't really go. The base you are looking had 3 gates and they blew all of them. They didn't go for the last one but there was nothing in there... which is a bit sus.
I can't be bothered to build that many gates, if they know where I am they know where I am.
Also, allegedly, if you place the crates, they last longer than if you just drop them, and given how I go about it, I don't like to have a flag

Containers last indefinitely if you keep interacting with them. I had crates last for months in the wilderness. The despawn timer is supposedly 45 days, and 14 days for buried items, but you can refresh it by interacting.
Update: my second base got raided, I got 1 left and a kit to build another one
1 week on Cherna, 3 weeks on Sakhal
I mean its pretty bad seeing how long they have worked on the game.
In generall I would love to have a game with Dayz Graphics but long dark survival mech.

I meant to say that some people make it sound as if building was entirely pointless, but there are def a few good spots where people almost never go.
This Cherna base is about to be 2 weeks old.
