Can you boil water in a glass bottle?
I have tried, waited for it to become red in a fireplace in cooking slot, then i waited for it to go to 'warm' before drinking. Got the "virus" icon nonetheless and now my character is vomitting.

Are you on a official or community server?
On officials use the purifying tabs you can find at
hospitals, clinics, deer hides, shops and camping grounds.
TBH i have never tried to boil water to sterilise it.
Don't even know if you can.

You can, but you have to go by the sounds, not the "red hot" text indication (simply "red" is not hot enough) .. Also note, boiling the water only kills biological contamination, and does not take out Heavy Metals if you are on Sakhal or a community map.
edit: spelling

I am on official server, and I am yet to hear the bottle with water in cooking slot to make any noises :( I guess i need to wait longer.
Unfortunately you can't boil water in glass bottles.
All items that can be warmed up have a maximum temperature and the bottle has its value set below the boiling point.

Hmm come to think of it, doesn’t it make a different sound or no sound at all when it’s water in a plastic or glass bottle? Water in a cooking pot def makes a sound. I usually wait to hear it bubbling and don’t think I’ve ever gotten sick. I very rarely use chlorine tablets.

Best way to get a pot is go fishing. I catch them all the time :steamhappy:

The only reason to heat glass bottles is for a poor mans warming pack.

That's interesting to learn. I thought I had read a Dev blog that said they added the glass bottle as a means to boil water .. perhaps they changed their minds. Thanks for the correction.

Yeah I remember devs saying something like that too. Maybe they changed their minds or misspoke and really meant thawing frozen water in stoves, which isn't possible with plastic bottles I think.
