Anybody have their vehicles start sinking into the map?
Map Sakhal, minor mods to ammo and repair mechanic, server settings adjusted to give a little 'build anywhere' freedom. These adjustments have been used since Sakhal was released. The weirdness has happened twice with 2 different vehicles since 1.27. The bonus weirdness is that logging off then logging back on made the vehicles reappear. I was the only player so don't know what would've happened if others had been present.

This is a desync problem, or just a straight up hitbox problem with the game.

Had the same excact issue on a soft modded Chernarus server.

It happened while I closed the door of my base, while the car whise nearly in the middle so the door went through the car... bad mistake, the car started floating in the middle of the ground like a ghost car.

We managed to fix it with a fireplace on the floor, so the car would touch it and flip to the ground again, but it happened another time and then it just went down...

Next time, never opening or closing doors of a built base, next to a vehicle...

This game... xD

That's not a "desync" problem .. That is User Error. Don't park so close to a Gate that opening or closing it causes a collision of the 2 objects. Also note, if your buddy jumps out to open the gate, and it hits the car as you sit in it, you DED.
- You're lucky they "fixed" the cars a long while back, or it would have sent your car to the Moon when the gate hit it.
I don't know if I can call unsuccessfully navigating a minefield of glitches and spaghetti code 100% "User Error" lol

Did I say that "everything, 100% is User Error" ??
No I did not, I said that one specific incident, was User Error ..

In all my hours, the only time I have EVER had a vehicle "sink" is when crashing a mod-added vehicle, in a very spectacular showing of acrobatic prowess, or by driving outside the boundary of the map.
I've opened a gate and whacked my car before and there was some damage but it actually seemed almost like a 'reality' mechanic. Of course, all those other doors and gates passing through other items as if magically powered might have trained players to initially think vehicles were the same but were just a lesson waiting to be learned. :steamhappy:

In my recent case I watched my Ada, parked away from anything else on a seaside dock in Rudnogorsk, start sinking into the dock right after I exited the vehicle. It was like quicksand with a little side slippage. I approached the Ada but could not get the "Get In" prompt. Before it was totally submerged I logged out of the otherwise empty server then almost immediately logged back in. The Ada was now firmly sitting where I parked it.

The second event was a couple of irl days later up in the Zvezdny nikel mining area on snow covered ground with an Olga. I parked and went up the side of a hill to a single little workshop, looted, then turned around to see the Olga was gone. After metaphorically soiling myself I realized the quicksand syndrome may be repeating so I logged off & on to be greeted by my fully loaded Olga pretending that nothing had happened.

I have checked the Steam bug reports thread for DayZ and somebody else mentioned a singular similar event this month on March 5 but not a whole lot of detail was given. I'm heading to the official DayZ website to see what may turn up.
Looks like it's a 1.27 thing and been reported. The devs have a task created. Here's an example of the issue. This guy didn't see it happen but like others found a way to bring it back. Apparently it could be described as the image sinking into the ground but the collision model staying put. The resurrection video is the exact reverse of watching my Ada sinking, including the sideways slippage.

Three times now I've had a vehicle sink slowly into the ground, all since 1.27 update... Logging out and back in brought the vehicle back. Twice on Chernarus and today on Deer Isle. The one today my quad was parked with 3 wheels on concrete and 1 on dirt. The quad sat on a strange angle as if the dirt was way lower than it looked... then it started sinking slowly until it disappeared. As I said, logging out and back in brought it back, then with all 4 wheels on the concrete.

Happening on all maps and any combination of mods/no mods.

It's a dayz bug, in other words.

I wonder if anyone has been in the vehicle when it sinks. I'm doubtful since it appears that vehicles go through some cyber-transformation once they are empty of players.

For us on my server, it seemed to happen most when people would get out too quickly and the car was still moving very slowly; but not moving enough to hurt you.

It hasn't happened on my Banov map server for a while. The first few days it happened 4 or 5 times, and not once since.

It seems to only affect some vehicles, from my limited testing. I've had Gunters and Olgas sink, but not any Hummers or Trucks.
