How large is Chernarus?
I made a video yesterday showing me wondering off the map into no mans land, and I was wondering if that portion of the empty world can be expanded upon or is the map at it's maximum limit?

So does the 13x13 Kilometers encompass no mans land as well?
Hello there

"No mans land" can be expanded on but at the moment its procedurally generated, so if they were to build on it it wouldnt be the exact piece of land you see now, it would have to become real land, if that makes sense?

How simple it is to enlarge the physical "true" land? Well therin lies the rub, I dont have enough knowledge of the "Visitor" tools.

But larger landmasses (with in game measurements) than Chernarus are possible.

Ill see if I can get an answer out of the devs.

Okay thank you very much, I appreciate it. I often wondered about how far they could expand on the map without staying within the marked limits itself. It appeared to me that there was such a large portion of the land left open for development.

I jokingly made a comment or actually asked a question to myself if I could setup a camp outside of the map limits, only to run back toward land fearing if I got kicked due to some unforseen circumstances I would be lost forever.

Cheers, and Thank you.

Oh okay, interesting so the current populated world can eventaully be expanded upon.

I can see some very nice things happening here, smart of the devs to leave it open for further development.

Thanks for the reply.
Hello there

Ive had a chat with some chaps and apparently this has ben covered in depth on Reddit, if I find the link ill post it.

Have a peek there.

TL;DR?

Its physically "possible" but a nightmare to do.

Your absolutely right, it would be a nightmare. I was just reading the comments on reddit. Interesting to see Rocket himself addressing this question, but he knows what he is talking about. Here is a excerpt from the following with a how to from the reddit site.

"The map is broken up into parts on two scales, one is used by terrain (how far between verts for the terrain points). The other is used for the generation of materials and how the different land classes overlap.

The hard part is not adjusting the scale, so much as reconciling these two values. They have very dependent relationships on each other, and only specific different combinations can be used. These have a big reference on why the map is the size it is."
