My 3 sons live with me, and my eldest recently paid for dayz on steam - but the rest of us cant play it without re-buying the game! i dont want to pull out another 60 quid for us all to play, is there any way of getting round this (legally)?

You obviously cannot play at the same time without buying additional copies. If you want to take turns without losing character progress then there's only one option, playing on different hives. There are four, two of which are experimental so they may or may not be up at any given time and require a download. Hardcore, standard, experimental hardcore, experimental standard. Either way, you run an extreme risk of losing your account if you children try to hack at any point. You'd be surprised by the amount of stories I've heard about a "little brother" downloading hacks that resulted in a ban.

Are you playing from different machines? If yes, then, probably better off just doling out the extra money as the game is 100x more fun with others, especially ones you know and trust
edit- omg title says one pc- disregard

Steam Family Sharing does exactly what you're asking for. You can enable it under the Family tab in Settings.

Even using the family -sharing; It will not let you all play online at the same time.
You'll need to buy another copy(s) to all play online together.

How would three sons and a father play online on the same PC anyway? Don't you guys read the thread before you respond?

your only option to really play a game with multiple people at the same time without re-purchasing the game is to play games that have Local Coop available (it should say on store page if it has it), and even then you'd need to check how many players are able to play. But that'll still leave you having to use the same screen for all players afaik

let ur sons all make a steam account, and then share the game under family sharing with those accounts

DayZ SA cannot be shared anymore..

If I remember correctly steam family sharing does not support multiplayer only games anymore. I don't believe that will work, though I may be wrong.

No , titles that require an additional third-party key, account, or subscription in order to play cannot be shared between accounts.
