Give me a key...
But really, I was wondering (From a players perspective) how this game is advancing and how far off being playable it is. I have been following it but I find it hard to trust devs whose main purpose is profit. I bought Rust some time ago and it has left me a little disenchanted with Early Access.

Can't help but being tempted by this one.

Hello there

If you want to support the team and get the game at a lower price, I think its worth investing in.

If you want a fully playable game and dont mind spending a little more later then I would wait for a full and final release.

The game is playable to a degree, but its a long way off complete and does not include all major planned parts yet.

Do your research before you mash the Buy button.

Nearly everyone's main purpose is profit in every line of work.

I was hoping to do a little passive research before considering mashing the Buy button, hence coming on here and asking.

I'm all for supporting devs, I just like to know what sort of progress they make and how transparent they are. I recognise the game is in Alpha and would expect such, but it's good to know if the game is advancing as 'planned'.

@Ryan091: I recognise that, but I also recognise that, as a consumer, I should expect promises to be upheld if I invest in the product they are attempting to profit from.

I would say stick to your rust game, this game has always been playable from day 1 and scrounging for a free game key ain't gunna happen, the devs ain't money grabbing!! they are giving us players a game we feel great about playing, now go away and either play your game of rust or purchace this game and help in the development of it!!

Or are you yet another TROLL!!

Hello there

Here's a good place to try http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

Also the official forums are linked in to the devs twitter feeds as well as this so we get the info as soon as its posted.

I meant no offence by any of my comments, but we cannot judge for you whether the devs are transparent enough for you etc as opinions differ and as a DAYZ mod on their forum, my opinion may be seen to be biased.

I hope this helps

The free key request was a joke, I'm happy buying my own games. As for playable from day 1, I've heard differently from numerous sources and wanted to check before I buy. I'm definitely not trolling and was only requesting first hand knowledge from people who have already experienced the game.

@OrLok: I didn't think you meant any offence at all, sorry if I come across that way. I was just curious what peoples opinions were regarding the devs and development so far. I didn't do enough research on Rust so this time I decided not to make the same mistake twice.

What the hell??

Beleve me you won't be making the same mistake with DayZ as i also have Rust and find it to be a poor game compaired to DayZ SA, i suggest you ditch rust for now and join the fun here.
I have only had a few minor problems with DayZ and from day 1 this game felt very playable for me and the clan i roll with, i can only talk about my own experiences with this game and they will very from what others say...
Wait till it is finished - my 2 cents.

That is my main concern. You refer to is as "investing". And I am sorry, but you will be disappointed with this product as of right now. I wouldnt want your "investment" to lose you any money or time.

Its a fantastic game, it has its fair share of problems and glitches. The patches which can make it better or often worse as they test things. Playing alone i probably would be very bored by now, if you get involed with a group its a lot more fun. I have had hours of enjoyment out of it and i can honestly say its the best game i have played in a long time. Really worth getting it at the cheaper price, its only going to be better.

@OP-
If you wait til it's "finished" you may well be paying double the price it is now.
At the moment it is NOT even close to Beta... more like pre-alpha stage but IMHO - well worth the asking price... bugs, glitches, speedy gonzales z's and all.
I have well over 600 hours in the game atm and have loved (almost) every moment of it. Even in the state it's currently in it can be VERY immersive and intense at times.
Just remember if you do buy it now:
1. You own it and when it's completed you will not be paying any more
2. DON'T get to attached to your gear or character... you will die... over and over... especially at first.
3. Lastly (and maybe this should have been first) - watch some of the game play vid's and tutorials... read some of the forums... AND remember that if you do buy in you are agreeing to support/test drive an unfinished product.
A lot of buyers don't read all the disclaimers and then come back here whining and then can't understand why the rest of the community shoves it back down their throats... LOL. :j

Of course it's an investment, you're paying money for a product that you intend on investing time into. You wouldn't buy a product and expect nothing in return, that's a gamble. As for your 'Candy Crush' comment, I don't see how you come to the conclusion, based on me wanting information about a game, that I must be a casual gamer. If I buy the game without researching and then feel like I haven't recieved value for mone I'm in the wrong for not researching. If I do research, it's because I'm obviously a 'casual' gamer.

Besides, my question isn't regarding the quality of the game as it stands, I recognise it's in Alpha and, as such, unfinished. My question is regarding the devs and how transparent they are, something that people who are players will be able to answer.

Not sure why that matters. But, since you asked, Hicks AND Rocket both comment in the forums regarding their game. I just dont want another person buying the game, to come on the forums after playing for 1 hour and demanding a refund or bashing BI while singing the praises of that Sony game. Plus, there are about 150 of these threads started everyday. A simple search would have answered your questions.

I believe investment was in future playablity, where as rust is lacking in that area.
And I think my "investment" is well worth it.
