DayZ
What happend to us?
ive been browsing the forums of day-z and, the hate being spewed is... incredible
ive never seen such toxicity and hostility toward other people/developers
i miss being able to have a 'grown up' conversation about a mutual intrest with other like-minded gamers with out somone butting in with a rascist or offensive comment.
i mean yeah, by all means, have a heated debate, voice your opinions, but also be open minded and considerate.
The game has such potential, and in its current build it think its great! but the community, its being poisned by ignorant, venomous people, this reflects in gameplay as well as the forums.
i realise this might seem like a random nonsensical thread, but this its tuly a concern of mine, i know that it shouldnt but reading/hearing the swirling mass of hatred has made me start to... hold back from playing the game, i mean it in no way affects my game play but a key part was interaction in the mod, and indeed at the launch of the SA, but now, if player sees a foreign toon, african american/ hispanic/ asian, its not uncommon to hear recial slurs and torturing your purley because of your race.
im not ignorant, and yes freedom IS what makes the game great, and i DO NOT want to see anything censored, but it sickens me because all of these people are 14-16/17 (from what i could hear in voice chat)
maybe im driviling on, well not maybe i AM driviling on xD
but i guess what im trying to say is, i hope and pray fpr the day this community somehow shifts back to a less vile squalid excuse for a forum...

oh and also
steam/valve
you need to stop letting people who dont own a game, comment and make posts on the forum/s of that game. it makes no sense, as all that is posted are the 'should i by this or this" threads that the developers usually put into the forum rules, not to post.

Too many Trollz. Inside & Outside of the Community

just ignore such Topics like you mentioned. Many arent even aware of they stupidness itself. Just wait and hope it will be getting better after those frustrated trollz leave
SmackCrocaine Mar 5, 2014 @ 5:48am
hopefully we wont have to wait too long, common decency and mutual respect cost nothing :(

This is an interesting post...
"i miss being able to have a 'grown up' conversation about a mutual intrest with other like-minded gamers" You had one of those in *these* forums??

"you need to stop letting people who dont own a game, comment and make posts on the forum/s of that game/" 10000% agree, all they do is talk ♥♥♥♥ (usually out of jealousy/hate that they cant get the game to play for whatever reasons) and make inflammatory threads, inciting a riot amongst the actual owners of the game

I've been in these forums since Dec and it's always been exactly like this:
A hive of scum and villainy- and I think it will continue to be like this until this game starts to lose some steam, which I dont see happening anytime soon
SmackCrocaine Mar 5, 2014 @ 6:00am
exactly, im glad you can identify with what i said ^_^, although i seem to remember your name from a particular 'dean hall is a scammer post' which had been retracted ;)

*edit - used witch instead of which... (derrr)

A grown up conversation ? Ha. Just two days ago I was trying to discuss with some "people" about the benefits (as opposed to most of them seeing it as a flaw) of the long downtime between action in DayZ (ie: the lots of walking ), I presented my arguements, i gave examples, I didn't insult anyone, what replies did I get ?

- Fanboy
-White Knight ( Wat ? )
- You think the game is great but it has so many flaws ( the word "great" never entered the equation)
- Do you need all the game's flaws listed to you ? (My first sentance was along the lines of " While the game has many flaws, imo long downtime isn't one of them" )

And that's just to name a few, just a whole load of hateful ♥♥♥♥ from irrational people that weren't interested in a discussion, but merely in droning on about their opinions.

In fact, I'm not even sure if some of those people read my posts, because they seemed completely oblvious to what I was talking about, they saw someone not joining the circle-jerk and leaped into trolling.

And that's just one example. I don't know if it's young age or what (I'd be interested in seeing some demographics, actually). I think it's more just the Steam Forums are a place where most people don't look for intelligent discussion.

About people that don't own the game not posting: I have rarely seen this, most people who post do own the game, imo not being able to post and ask about the game before buying would drive people away. Yes, you and I might know how and where to find information on games we're interested in, but considering the questions I see here on a regular basis, the average person seems disturbingly helpless.

You are totally right, but we are here on the internet, so you can't change the situation.
When I'm ingame I try to take the game serious and treat immature f*ckers who want to kill / torture me like psychos.
In real life I just pray to all gods that these people shall find out that natural selection still works somehow and that our world will NOT end like in the movie "Idiocracy" (Please google it if you don't know it yet. It's very funny, but also truely sad).

Just because someone doesn't take the game as seriously as you doesn't mean they're psychos, it's just their way of enjoying the game.

Immaturity is also an interesting subject, if the player is still a minor ( I'd probably stand by an arguement that even 18+ people are usually not matured yet, but thats another discussion), can you honestly expect him to be mature or blame him for being immature ? We were all immature when we were 14 or whatever, that's how you are when you're 14, it's natural.

Obviously, 14 yos shouldn't be playing a game like DayZ, but if you go down that route then you end up blaming parents for buying the game for their kids and end up with a discussion on societal issues and bad parenting - so it's really not as easy as "they shot me in game, they're immature psychos"

I think it's the age factor why we have people like that in the forums. But it's not just the physical age, it's the mental one too. I think we have bunch of people in their 20's in this forum that are mentally 15 year olds. But everyone doesn't develop as fast as others.

As for trolling....there's that line between stupidity and trolling, sadly that line is thin. Meaning that someone was stupid when he posted something, then ended up labeling himself as ''troll'' because he does not want to look ''stupid''. I've seen this few times where some person was simply stupid but ''swapped'' his demeanor to more obvious trolling because he realized that he was stupid, but did not want to be seen as stupid by others.

It is what it is.

.....
I mean they are psychos in the game. For me DayZ is not a game where you shuold have fun doing whatever you want.
Only psychos would kill randomly and torture people after an apocalypse, just like "the governor" from The Walking Dead Season 3.
In my humble opinion DayZ is a Survival-Simulator. As far as I know upcoming patches will emphasize this aspect of DayZ.
Maybe I'm the real psycho because I take it too serious, so when they are available, I will only play on RP servers.
(I don't want to be offensive at all ... maybe I'm too influenced from LARP and Pen & Paper...)

I want to see more survival related content in DayZ, a game that goes hardcore into those aspects have never truly been made (except for some very niche stuff), and it's why I bought the game.

But the murderers and KOSers that you hope will be gone are a fundamental part of what makes DayZ, DayZ. The paranoia and fear of possibly being shot at any time you're in the open is critical to the tension. They have their place.

I'm certainly not one of them, heck, I'm applying to the Trusted Medics of the Wasteland, but I just wouldn't feel the same if I'd be heading to help a patient and wouldn't have some doubts in the back of my head that this might be an ambush.

I've mentioned many times that I think making the environment more dangerous will lessen KOS, but it will still always be there, and that is a good thing, you SHOULD be afraid.
