Lack of player interaction
It seems like somehow this game has drawn in such an odd crowd of players who seem totally uninterested in the horror survival aspects of the game. Am I alone in thinking that there should be more incentive for players to interact in some fashion to try to draw more elements of the game and make it at least somewhat more social? As it stands it seems like most players would rather just snipe you from afair, not even knowing or caring if you are a real threat or potential asset to survivability. If this game followed a story or narritive it would literly have no dialogue to it for most players I believe, which doesn't really make for such an exciting story in the long run.
I don't really know if its just fear that causes other players to shoot without even assessing a threat level that a potential player might provide, or if they just simple arent at all interested in anything other than the game being a giant deathmatch.
I'm looking for some other player feedback here I'd really like to know.

I was (I believe, not sure really) just south of the airfield tonight. Not really even decked out in gear, wearing an orange rain coat, but did have a rifle and axe. I wasn't even carrying the rifle mainly because I was trying to avoid drawing attention from bandits/zombies. Another player was in the cluster of buildings I was in and must have known I was there. Which makes me believe they had to have know I was just there looting and since I've never been to that location before tonight, would have known as well I was moving around confused and lost. They watched me go into a building, closing the door behind me and waited outside the door and down the street just watching the door and waiting. When I was done looting I came out the door and they shot immediately as I opened the door killing me with one shot (must have been a head shot?). The are was adandon, the server only about half full. I just find it odd the player who did that would be more interested in gaming alone and not even engaging in some sort of hold up senario rather than just sniping as they did.

The way loot spawns already drives enough players to empty servers for most of their gaming time to try to collect items to survive, why would players want to push for more empty servers? I just don't get it.

They are bored with nothing else to do once they gear up. Once more things are implemented, it will be better. There will still be snipers and general KOS, but it will be different. Just wait until respawning hoards of zombies start to swarm the towns, and it takes two people just to carry an engine block. Its just bored kids, itll change.

As a new spawn, I simply wave at everyone I see.. and they all shoot me. Once I start to get geared up a bit, I tend to go into survival mode. With a full gearset, it is even more fun to join a group to hunt them down! Night before last, we were watching coastal cities and shooting the people who were camping/targeting fresh spawns. Its quite rewarding playing as a Hero, not so much as a bandit... unless you are playing as a proper bandit and just robbing folks.

Well for me I fear other players, so I just avoid them.
I've gone my whole four hours without seeing any players, with the exception of a fresh spawn when I first spawned.

lots of player interactions. I am either chating with them or killing them I don't have a prefrence.
either way it's player interaction. What you want is social interaction. People are about them and there groups, if your not part of that then they will kill you if they can. there is nothing wrong with that and it fits the survival horro theme perfectly well.
there are already loads of zombie games out there and most of which have better zombies then DayZ and alot of which have social features. DayZ isn;t those games, the zombies suck and even when there fixed they will never be grand. DayZ is more about surviving the survivors of the zombie apoc. the zombies will be there but intelligent players will always be the issue.
survival of the fitest, nice guys finish last and all that.

I'm reminded of Stand By Me in the beginning. The crazy black woman was hilarious! The noob trying to glitch through the window to kill you was an epic representation of some of the noobs who play this game.. I'll have to join this server.. it looks like a lot of fun going on there...

I'm wondering if in the future, zombies could be a little hardest thing to beat, I mean, would be great for me if the only way to kill a zombie is shoting or hitting his head and the other ways can't stop them, just make them slower or something like that.
Imagine this fact with hordes of zombies, in this case is not such a good idea to keep walking on the middle of the street making noise and stealth and cooperation with another players will become more relevant.
I know dean's vision is to make a REAL surviving game, for this, I'm affraid about his departure in the future, we know dayz is in a thin line to be "another" PvP game, so I hope dayz is almost finished when his time in bohemia ends

Yes, I agree that it is sad that for the most part the only contact with other players is a bullet to the head. Except for meeting and playing with a friend of mine a couple of times one of the only "friendly" contacts I've managed so far is with a new spawn (I was newly spawned at the time) just off the east coast. He was being chased by a z' and I thought that I would try to help him out by attacking the z' from behind. Well as it turned out the noob ran into a house, the z' glitched into the wall and when the noob came out I tryed to communicate with him (text and speech) he wouldn't respond and after following him around in circles he finally logged out.
I had one other friendly contact with two other players (all of us armed to the teeth), neither one of us fired at each other (talked first) - ended up trading some items and parted our ways after they looted the military base while I watched for z's & bandits.
Other than that I've been KOS'd 4 or 5 times so I pretty much play survival/stealth mode and as yet have never killed another player... lots of z's though! LOL! :j

At the moment we have taken the server down until the game becomes further developed and offers more content. We still play, just on other servers for now. Figured it was better to use the clans resources on other servers for the time being whilst DayZ is worked on some more. We have BF4, Rust, Minecraft currently but we play just about anything.

I'm gonna have that witchdoctor song stuck in my head all night...thanks. :)

There's a lot of stuff coming that will help get players to have more meaningful interactions, or give them reasons to band together. For example, once the zombie respawning is going full bore many of the towns and airfields will no longer be just loot baskets limiting some of the players easy access to the loot held therein. This will force players to realistically look at hunting and farming as alternatives to the gear and go deathmatch mentallity that is currently so prevalent. Communicable diseases may drive players to band together to secure medical supplies or die in the wilderness. Barricading will allow players to sweep a town and make it their own safezone from zombies, a good reason for the regular joes and heroes to get together to get the job done.

Just a couple possible options for players going forward.

last time I seen Dean play DayZ he killed like 4 people, atleast two were fresh spawns one was a guy he meet up with and was being friendly traveling together. (took Deans axe to back of his head) I think the way most people play the game is about whats expected.

for real? hahahaha.
It's very sad to think that people plays what expected, I mean, we can see millions of PvP games and concepts out there, people can't change their thinking with this game, that isn't just focused on deathmatch?
I think could be possible, when game reached almost all his roadmap

If they would have had this video on the store page I never would have given the game a second glance. This has totally lowered my expections for this game...
