99% of early access games either run out of money and flop or are huge successes early on and flop because there is no motivation to finish/polish the product once they have everyone's money.
and as far as "hey don't worry 'bout nuthin this is standard operating procedure in the game world"..... bvllsh!t....
there is nothing about the entire DayZ project that is "standard". a "standalone" game that is 90% reused assets from another game and is still in early alpha and plays worse than the original mod after years of work is far from standard.
bottom line, Dean's "vision" for DayZ was too ambitious. instead of working on a few things and making them 100% viable in a massive online game, they decided to work on several different things and bring them all to about 50% functionality. now they are beginning to see that a lot of their initial promises are not viable. there will never be another map for players to travel to. there will never be 100 players on an official server. there will never be more than a handful of zombies per player per sever...
He says he leaves in 2014, and he said that game will not leave alpha in 2014, so no, he's not going to finish the game, he just grabbed the money and that's all. I feel sorry for all who bought this game.

Please release the mod files for DayZ stand alone right this minute on Steam so modders can finish the game. Let the modders out there have a go at the game. I'll guarantee you it would be the best thing that ever happened to DayZ since....well....ever since you purchased it from Dean Hall.
Thanks,

Most probably did not even read the whole article, i have to think so!
you have no comprhension
If you think progress on the SA is slow now, wait untill unpaid modders that work on these things as a hobby get a hold of it. Should be careful what you wish for.
