Tips on dealing with zombies.

I may be a noob, but these zombies are brutal (without you having a weapon). If a zombie sees me, it will follow me to no end (wether it has line of sight or not).

Any tips on dealing with zombies?

I have tried:

• running out of their line of sight, but they still seem to follow as though they can see me.
  
• running through buildings and over fences, but they they just walk through those objects like they weren't there.
  
• going up a ladder or stairs, but the zombie just waits patiently at stair/ladder.
  
• hiding in a building (after running out of their line of sight), but they just walk through the wall heading in my direction.
  
• sneaking (prevention), but because the zombies do not move you can't really sneak into a building they are watching

The only thing that worked for me so far, was running nonstop over 200m, but this is not practical when trying to loot.

It seems the zombies have a simple AI that once you trigger their script they are told to follow your position, but they do not take line of sight into account once they targeted you. Mix in awful collision detection, and they are deadly as they walk through almost every object.

how about punching them to death by hitting their head with your fists ...when they drop to the ground punch em anywhere and when it stands punch it again on his head ...repeat till it is dead.

When I don't have an axe and no other players are in sight, I make them walk off the docks and into the water. Some of the drops are long enough to kill them, while the others will leave them stranded in the water. Otherwise if they are running after me while I'm running in between towns, they eventually stop (couldn't tell you how far of a run that usually ends up being).

If you've got an axe, keep strafing around them and swinging. Worked so far

I have found only a few Melee weapons are worthwhile really, such as the Fire Axe, Splitting Axe and the Pipe Wrench.
If I don't have any of these I generally use my fists as they're more responsive and rapid. Hit the zombie in the head and skirt around it. If you get a clean shot it will fall to the ground, and you can keep hitting it in the head. When it stands up, it may flail once and then fall down again. Rinse and Repeat.

I find that they attack slowly. Once they reach to hit you, you can usually move in.

you're faster than them, loot even if they follow you, and if they enter your building, just avoid their attacks.

Do not punch the zombies. If you can figure out how to outrun them, I can only imagine what it would be like trying to find more bandages once you've used up your shirt. Just hit w twice and sprint away until you find an axe. no amount of blood loss is worth it from zombies, save your blood for encounters with other players, you will need it.

Just practice punching them to death.

Its a skill you ARE going to need.

With server lag and such though it is a bit tricky sometimes if you are lagging to kill a single zombie without being touched.

Sometimes you have no luck and cant find a weapon for awhile ( Or one that is better than fists anyways ) and you might have to go through 10+ zombies before you get an axe.

I can take down around 12-15 before lag takes its toll usually.

However they are going to make them harder...so practice now while you can

You would think that fixing the walking through walls and objects would be kinda high on the fix list and should have been addressed by now

i never go meele range because i suck there so i just waste bullets but its okay i have enough

I normally just walk upto them and say "So, you my date?" then all of a sudden they fall on the floor *shrugs* dunno if its me or the axe.
