Mosin M44 Compensator
Has anyone tried the compensator on the Mosin yet, what does it actually do?

I have found a couple so far, but I don't use the Mosin, so I left them in a field somewhere.

im pretty sure it reduces recoil.

I remember Dean saying it reduces the cone of fire (spread) slightly. It was on Sacriel's yesterday 100K stream.

why would you want to reduce the spread? that doesnt make sense dude. sounds like a weapon downgrade to me.

Cone of fire is an imaginative circle in which the bullet will land. The smaller it is, the more accurate the gun is. It's an upgrade.

The smaller the cone of fire the more accurate the shot, it is a sniper's dream.

"A muzzle brake or recoil compensator is a device that is either fitted to, or designed as a permanent part of, the muzzle of a firearm or cannon. It redirects propellant gases to counter gun recoil and unwanted rising of the barrel during rapid fire." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muzzle_brake

So it's pretty useless on a bolt action rifle considering you have to chamber a bullet after every shot, would make more sense if it was for the m4 unless it has some other hidden property that increases single shot accuracy

ive found tons of them. and yeah they are awsome.
reduces the recoil to (maybe) 40%. its very very useful.
found mine at the houses @ airfield.

to the guy above me,
im not sure if ive got you right.
but you can load the mosin with 5 bullets, 1bullet bug appears after painting it.
and if u are using a 20x scope and wanna do some longrange kills its very helpful.
but thats just my opinion ^^
