What does the Z stand for in DAYZ?
apparently its not zombie, which iv just found out after 890+ hours.

Stands for zero. As in Dayz Zero the first day of your survival story.

Its a very understandable misconception.

I still have to remind myself that there are now Zombies and the "Zeds" are infected.

An analogy is folk calling all sorts of vacuum cleaners Hoovers.
