In my current life (which is now 2 weeks old woot) I've found only 1 hunting backpack which I found at the American helicopter crash site. Every other backpack I've seen there are the tortilla backpacks.
I haven't found any other hunting backpacks anywhere else and even then at the crash site it seems to be a rare spawn. Good luck finding it.
The guardhouses have military loot-splosions that feature both the Tortilla and Smersh BPs, and at several of these I have seen both the Smersh vest and BP in same location (back in the day, you always seemed to find one or the other).
The Hunting BP is a little more elusive than the Mountain, Tortilla or Smersh in this patch, but, like all the BPs, MORE available than it was before IMO. They show up at same spots as Tortilla and Smersh, albeit less likely, but they ALSO can sometimes be found @ deer stands
and at the Village Pubs (saw a Hunting and a Mountain together in a V-pub south of Cernaya Polana a week ago...). It seems they WANT you to get a backpack straight away...I can't count the number of sheds I have seen in past few days that have had both a rope and a burlap sack in them and nothing else...
There is a house (that, as an aside, is spawning tents ATM), and the Hunters backpack, as well as all the other BPs except smersh (at least I haven't seen a smersh in this building)...it is a house that has a large central room with big rug and is referred to as "housev2_05" if you are using the DayZ TV Map...the same house features raincoats & quilted, wool and hoodie-type jackets, as well as the M65 (I snagged a pristine olive M65 at just such a house), and usually some canned food/sodas...so if you see one, it is well worth looting IF it is one off the beaten path (the amt. of loot they have seems directly related to home much that specific house was looted prior to the CLE...one near Elektro, for example was totally devoid of loot, while one I found in the middle of the woods was loaded with stuff...I usually visit the one in Three Valleys when I am in that area (just east of Msta) and on 3 different servers it had a tent and several BPs and some M65s...
