If you do not want to deal with Bandits or Snipers camping electro play on a low pop server (there is no shame in this and i still encounter people, and low pop for me is anything under 20 players)

This is basically what people do.

On High pop servers 30 + you are not going to have a good chance vs other players.

Also stealth is your best defense so don't shoot unless you really have to,
use your ears, listen for foot steps.
Don't presume it is just a zombie you can hear.

take your time and sit still for a while and you might catch someone unaware you were there.

That's about the best I can offer atm.

Well kinda depends on where you are on the map(campers), real bandits will not kill you on sight, they wanna have some fun first ;) As for gearing up in a big city(Elektro/Cherno etc...) on a full server is very dangerous and best advice i can give you; get in and get the hell out or avoid bigger cities for now focus on smaller settlements till geared then hit up the bigger cities :)

But best overall tip/s i can give you if in a firefight would be, break the line of sight to your enemy, always know(or try to)where your enemy is, flank, flank and then flank some more. Remmember this is not a game where the one with the biggest gun wins but the biggest brain ;)

These are by no means any pro tips but i hope they will help you out a bit, good luck and have fun out there :)

Edit: Also what Deus said :)

Never run on roads. Stick to the treeline. I made it a past time to shoot people running down roads, as they are so easy to snipe from afar with any kind of scope. Always have a pristine canteen with you and always be fully energized and try to stay hydrated. Don't keep valuables in your pants, as this spot is a likely place to get hit and ruined in 1 or 2 shots. I suggest keeping food and can openers and such in your pants. Always use pristine gear. I had a pristine Gorka E hemet with a visor and a guy shot me in the head with an AK 74 from 10 metres and I didn't even go completely gray and my helmet was damaged. Always try to use green clothing. Black might be cool and all, but a black spot on a grassy field stands out like a lone tree on a field. Do not keep medication in pants, as if you fall from heights, your boots and most likely your pants will get either heavily damaged or ruined. I feel from around 3 or 4 metres and my pants went from pristine to Heavily damaged. Another reason to use pristine items. Also, pristine items decrease the chance of bleed. If your shirt is pristine and you get shot, you will MOST likely not bleed. I have been shot many, many times and if the bullet hit a pristine/worn item, I usually did not bleed. An M65 offers very great bullet protection. I got hit in the chest with a winchester from a few hundred meters and my M65 went from worn to Damaged and I didn't even bleed. 5.45 is plentiful and SKS ammo as well. AKM are very rate. Kashtan scopes are bad, unless you know how to use them. Tactical bacon is the best food. Apple trees and berry bushes never run out. When running across towns, never run on the main road, as people who look for others look on the main road for people entering the city. Never trust anyone. I met 3 friendly people in 200 hours of DayZ. Shoot everyone on sight as soon as you have a clear shot. Better safe than sorry. Kill all freshspawns. I died to one, and I had an AKM and I was stocked. Screw military locations, guard houses and humvees are the thing now. All .22 guns are ♥♥♥♥, unless you are using the sporter with a hunting scope and a 30rnd mag. The makarov is bad. Never use SMG's, unless you absolutely have to, as you will ruin your foe's gear with them and they use a ton of ammo and make alot of noise. Always shoot the zombies, they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ninjas at close combat. Never log out in buildings, unless you are deliberately trying to get stuck under them. Elektro is the most dangerous city. On a hi pop, there might be over 6 or 7 people in over 3 different squads in a 200m *outskirts* area. Speaking from experience. I have no idea how many people are camping in the heart of elektro, but all the red buildings are filled to the brim with geared guys, waiting for you to die for them. Check huting stands, as they spawn a ton of rifles. Check some of the small wooden half broken down sheds for Woodcutting axes and fire stations for fire axes. An unlooted police station will always have an smg and a ton of 9mm ammo from mp5 mags if you get even a little bit lucky. If you have to choose between an AKS 74 or an AK 74, take the AK 74, as you cannot attatch a grip to the AKS. Always take plastic handguard/Stock over wooden or skelal, as they are better. Find green spraypaint and hold onto it with your life, as they are very very rare in this build. There are no batteries in this build. I don't think M4's spawn, or the chance of them spawning is so low, that even the luckiest person in the world would never find one. 5.56 spawns only on heli sites. AK101 is the rarest AK as of now. AKM is the second rarest AK. Always have a single pristine rag on you, craft it to an armband and you have a single almost invincible armband.

Avoiding other players is much harder in 3pp servers, they exploit the 3rd person view to the maximum, looking over walls, around corners, over and around windows and all this without exposing their character.
In 3rd person servers you have to always keep in mind how and where someone could be using the 3rd person view to spot you which is unrealistic and does not allow you to suppress or push forward without being seen all the time.
BigBANGtheory Jul 7, 2015 @ 12:55am
a geared camper exploiting 3rd person cam intent on PvP griefing has huge advantages, your best defence is to make/group up with friends

the other thing you can do is assume that role yourself if nothing else to understand the play style so you become more aware of the dangers, think like one to find or avoid one etc etc

Always use cover and never run in the open.
Dont engage offensively unless you have a clear shot.
Never be stationary in the open, ever.
Scroll around with the Alt key when moving.
Never run in cities
Look for player indicators. No Zeds, doors open etc
If in heavy pop server , skirt cities, stick to the edges.
Corners are your friends, useful to recon and acquire targets.
Always maintain your char and gear to max.
You cant shoot what you cant see. Stealth is your best weapon.
Dress for stealth, green is fashionable this season
Pistols are great, powerful and accurate.
Always have a gun in your hand, if in a building, raise it.
Dont let bambis close on you
If you meet someone and he talks to a friend on his mic, kill him
Never give someone a loaded gun, (yup, I know)
Keep precious items in back pack
Hiding in plain sight is sometimes the best, especially for sniping.
If in firefight, relocate afterwards. Others may be drawn to you.
Dont immediatly loot a downed foe . Adopt a defensive position incase his friends are coming.
When traversing an open road in cities, choose the quickest route.
Close doors behind you

Playing on a 1st person only server changes the advantage back into your hands as long as your patient and move slowly, they can only see you if you can see them, even if its through a window or gap in a wall ... 3rd person allows for dirty camping of towns and the advantage goes to the camper who can see anyone or anything approaching from almost any direction in 3rd person.... also i find people on 1st person to be a lot more friendly!

So campers and bandits are going to kill anyone they can. it's just a simple fact. If you are asking how to deal with them like some of the pros do on their streams by knocking them out while still living and stuff like that. it takes practise and skill, no secret keyboard dodge bullet botton.

However if you are asking how to just stop this from happening, like poeple have mentioned above, playing on low pop servers will definitely help but in my opinion that kind of takes away from the game. if you are someone that plays on a low pop server and then switches to a high pop for pvp. Welcome to a more realistic Call of Duty with a bigger map essentially. You would be playing a survival game where the only things that can kill you are thirst, hunger, weak zombies, sickness and falling and the very very very rare chance that you will see someone else unless you are walking around in a big city.

Now if you want to survive in a high pop server and scavenge for food, water, clothes and guns without being a victim of KOS. I have made this post to assist people in http://steamcommunity.com/app/221100/discussions/0/530646080857286722/

Yes this is a great plan. glitch into a wall and then kill random people. this is exactly how the game is meant to be played. If you have trouble figuring out who a bandit is, just kill everyone. you are now the thing you once feared. congratulations.

If i wanted to play a game where i shoot at things and they can't kill me. i'd play free flash games instead of being stuck in a wall when there is one of the largest in game maps i've ever seen of places i could go

I stick the trees myself. Knowing where "Sniper hill" is for towns helps. Elektro specifically most campers tend to hang on h hill beyond the powerplant, gives them basically a perfect view into Elektro.

I'm one of the best, if not the best player in DayZ, they all say i'm very good. I've once killed 2 people with AK's with my mosin on close range, and i also killed a guy with a makarov with my axe!

You might have heard of "The ZenGamer" because that's me and almost everyone i meet says i'm the best player they ever seen. I'm also very highskilled at fifa.

So here are my tips for DayZ:
1.Try to run from cover to cover in cities.
2.Try to take risks at millitary bases if you're not geared well enough

I'm on my other gaming account because otherwise too many people would like to add me, i don't want that.

If you need more tips, feel free to ask. I have alot of experience in DayZ and i doubt that anyone can beat me in a 1 v 1 situation. I can even handle 4 v 1 situations at some points.

-The ZenGamer, #1
thanks man but I just have problems with when to know to let them pass by or take a risky shot. I just have this paranoia that a person is watching me when Im watching someone and I never feel that Im secure in my position. But thats just something im gonna have to get over and it fells impossible to be a hero at most times. Anyway thanks for the feedback man :)

Do not run down the middle of Elektro with no pants on, screaming "Hi Friendly", without expecting to be shot.
