your keyboard could do this, all it takes is a regular music player and keys for controlling that.

1. create a playlist and load the player.
2. setup yer sound card/player, set it to "what you hear"
3. buy a keyboard (like logitech's G11, Gwhatever) that has a play button etc
4. go ingame and hit the voice chat button, then click "play" on the keys

its no biggy really
I have a ROCCAT macro keyboard, which has a play button. But what do you mean by the playlist? How do I make one? Or do you just mean that I have to download audio, put them in a folder, open up eg. Windows Media Player and do the other things?

you want to:

A: annoy other players by playing crapmusic from the 70s while running nekkid thru a town, yeh?!

B: take intelligent advantage of yer PC's capability and distract enemies by playing sounds & then re-locate?!

either way, all it takes is a player and a play button on yer keyboard.
i will give you an example (things i've done in dayz myself)

- - - - -

i wanna have some fun, i am a freshie and just want town rampage to occur.
so i load a player (in my case: "creative mediasource 5")

its just like any player (winamp or whatever)... and i drag some files into the playlist

now, at the time, i used a "G11" logitech keyboard - it has a player controls "area" with these buttons:

play
pause
skip track
back track
stop
volume up/down (scroll circle)

so i just went ingame, hit the usual mic button in dayz (the button you use to talk out loud ingame to strangers you meet) and while it was active, i hit the "play" button mentioned above, and then annoying music came from my character to anyone within a 20-30 mtr's radius ... i have been using this for roleplay too back in the days, when dj'ing at a party ingame
No, I was planning to scare them by adding improvised sounds I found on the internet. I got tired of getting KoSed so now it's time to take my revenge

what might stop ya from doing this could be the fact that you use a USB headset... if so, it most likely has its own built-in soundcard which will override yer PC's soundcard (regardless of the quality of this).... so that's why you need somekind of soundcard controller to overrride all yer settings and set it to "what you hear".

there are multiple sources out there, i can recommend GOLDWAVE but now we are moving far away from DayZ and into the cryptic dungeons of otherworldly vampires (it's a trial / pay prog.) so i will let the mods decide wether we stray too far away from the game here
http://fi.creative.com/p/gaming-headsets/creative-fatal1ty-gaming-headset I have those headsets and I have a seperate audio card (ASUS Xonar DGX)

don't know it - does it have a USB plug ?
It has a "male" input cable attached directly to my SFX card

all good. if you use a min jack then you use the PC's sound card, and thus it will not messup anything (USB headsets tend to override stuff - like, when you plug it in, the speakers will mute and you can only hear thru the headset from now, that's because it has a built-in soundcard which takes control over yer pc sounds and "disable" the regular sound card).

i dunno how to explain in plain tongue, so if anyone with skills read this - plz elaborate.

in short, you need a friend ingame - setup a playlist in yer normal player.
hit the "talk" button in dayz and then hit "play" (music)
then let him tell ya if he can hear yer music/files
Do I need to do anything with my sound card or my mic's control panel as long as my microphone is turned on?

Also i have 5 different jacks/whatever they are called, named Microphone, Line-in, Aux, Stereo Mix and wave, all part of my SFX card with the microphone thingy (which is my headset's mic) set as my default

well, i use a top notch pro USB you can't afford this, im so cool microphone myself, so i am not that experienced with mini jacks, but afaik (takes a sip of my champagne), you can check yer control panel and make sure that all sounds in & out are set to "what you hear".

this will ensure that ANY sound playing on yer pc will be heard, both by you (headphones or speakers or recording), and in any source activated (such as a mic button in a game, like dayz)
The sound levels dont seem to go up whenever I turn the sound on. Idk, ill try it tomorrow
