I'm just hoping someone makes a free Ai script like normal members of this community.
I've been searching for like 2 hours now. I think its down. I've literally waited years for these mods to come out so I can run a private server. I love the modding community but locking mods behind paywalls is just ridiculous. Hope it gets released soon for free.
What's the problem with locking modded content behind paywalls?
Remember what happened when steam tried to integrate payed workshop mods?
Personally i feel its not ok to lock it behind paywalls since you get little to no support and the scripts can break at anytime. If I hear they are asking 200 bucks for it I think its extremely high and its way to unreliable. Im all for donations if mods are really good and I know a modder wont make as much money, but this is not right.
Ah, I was thinking more about crediting the author(s) of mods and of sites like Nexus. If an author feels like they should be paid for their work then that's fair enough, but there's the caveat of who's entitled to what should access to a mod be lost. Support models like Patreon work well here.
It's also different depending on the game. I'd expect a "Donators only" model to work better with Fallout or Skyrim.
In my opinion it should never be the site or content manager (in this case Steam or others like Bethesda) that assert control over mods in general.
That does present a problem, which is why Patreon and Ko-fi are a good idea. In saying that though there is a balance, in that a modder isn't required to provide endless support simply because someone paid them - it is a side hustle for a lot of people. That being said, if someone is paid a lot of money to do something and they withdraw support there's an issue, but that circles back to the donation model of supporting authors.
Getting back to the original topic though, I thought there were numerous AI bandit scripts floating around for free? I could be wrong but charging for them seems like a bit of a joke, unless there's a particularly special one that substantially deviates from what was in Arma 2.
They might figure "Well if they're going to shell out X $ per month for server hosting they can probably find a way to pay for this as well."
Hopefully someone comes up with a free one sooner or later though.
